Oven shuts off when hot, control panel goes blank, when oven cools, panel blinks on and off and can be reset, but will shut down again when hot!!!! We were told by repairman that Amana no longer made the plastic template for the part that needed rplacement. Front panel, computer unit? We have had range since12/02 it worked for about 3-4 yrs. then problem began. Since it was functional some of the time we lived w/ it. However, when we did adress problem were told it was not repairable due to part discontinuation!!!! I always equated the Amana name with good, honest, American-made reliability. Hope you guys can help us. Thank You for your time. Hoping we don't have to buy a new stove.......,Sincerely Carol & Mark Merritt

Hello there and welcome to Fixya
This problem has actually occured quite alot on these ovens so no you are not alone
Here is what they have found out and suggested
the oven controle panel has a micrprocessor IE computer built into it that is supposed to sence the correct temperature of the oven there tests have shown that this does not happenso what happnes is that the oven will run any where from 30 to 60 min then it will go blank and shut down and will restart after the computer resets itself after 30 min or so
Now here is the tricky part when they build the ovens there is a temperature sensor that is supposed to be compatible with the controle panel when assembled and depending where the oven was made that part was the wrong part ok? so that is why they are suggesting that you have the warranty used if you still have the warranty
However if it is not under warranty what you will want to do is to have the temperature sensor tested to ensure it is accurate to what the display is saying because if it is not then you may have the wrong sensor for the oven ok
In most cases people will just go ahead and replace the temperature sensor in the oven itself and it seems to solve the problem ok
But yes there are times when it turns out to be the controle panel is at faut which means you would have to replace that part ok
So keep me posted on what you find and i can help you test the sensor if needed ok
Best regards Michael
If you're inclined to fix this yourself and can't find a replacement control board (no doubt that's what you need), try www.fixyourboard.com They will repair your board and return it to you with a 1 year warranty.
I had this same problem...I needed to replace the digital pad, cost about $200 online and took about an hour to replace. The heat from the oven wears out the electrical components in the pad...good luck!
The magnatron (heating element) is located in the cavity behind the control. If it's leaking microwaves onto the electronics, this will occur. This means the Mag should be replaced and a radiation test run on unit.
This sounds like a loose connection (solder joint) on the main control board. I had one that had a similar problem. checked the price of a control board $350. I took the control panel off, took the board apart and found a loose connection on one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection. oven works fine now.
Could be several things; 1. Electrical connections in oven are loose. 2.The circuit breaker for the oven could be failing. 3. The electronic control is failing. Make sure when oven is operating, the cooling fan is operating. If the cooling fan is not working, the electronic control will overheat and shut down.
