You need to move further south if it is frozen. It's cold up north :-)

If you've pulled the power from this tv (power cycled it) and it still has this problem ... frozen with no picture and no sound. How a screen can be frozen with no picture, I'm not sure. But it sounds like you are going to be on your way to the repair shop. Or to buy a new tv.

If I couldn't see and couldn't hear, how would I know you were even here?

What can cause an LG 47LN5700-UH TV not to turn on or respond to the panel buttons or remote control?

TV in totally unresponsive in many if not all areas. Only thing they all have in common is the set's power supply. They are big culprits.

Check the board for burnt rsisitors, diodes, bulging capacitors.

Mu harmony 1000 doesnt respond in any way when the buttons are pushed. The LCD Screen is frozen on the home screen. I have tried upgrading the firmand software...what can i do about it?

Try pressing the reset button, or holding the power button until it turns off. If that doesn't work take out the batteries and wait then put them back in.

No picture

Instructions
  1. 1 Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into a wall outlet if your TV is not powering on.
  2. 2 Make sure the video and audio cables connecting your TV to external devices are secure if you are experiencing a fuzzy picture or no picture.
  3. 3 Reset the parental password if you forgot the password and are unable to view certain programs. To do this, click "Menu" on your remote control and use the arrow keys to select "Parental Controls." Enter the master password, which is "4357" to reset the password.
  4. 4 Turn off the caption vision option if you are seeing a large black box on your screen. To do this, click the "Menu" button and select "Setup." Select "Caption vision" and press the "Plus" button on your controller to set the option to "Off."
  5. 5 Check the "TV/Video" setting if you're not getting a picture on your screen. You may have inadvertently selected a video input that isn't active. Press the "TV/Video" button on your remote to cycle through video inputs.
  6. 6 Alter the brightness settings if you are experiencing a poor picture or no picture. To do this, press "Menu" and select "Video." Increase the brightness settings to see if the picture begins to appear.
  7. 7 Make sure the volume is not muted if you are experiencing a clear picture but no sound. Press the "Mute" button on the remote control to turn mute on and off.
  8. 8 Power cycle your Sony Wega if it's frozen or not responding to your remote control. Unplug the power cord and wait a few seconds. Plug the power cord back in.

My tv won't play my DVD player. I don't have the original remote, but it is programed to a universal remote. Whenever I press the "TV/VCR" button all kinds of numbers pop up on the screen and the tv...

Your TV is responding as if the Game button was pressed on the original remote. The additional stuff on the screen is to let you set the best brightness and other settings for video gaming. These screens should disappear on their own in 10 seconds if no buttons are pressed on the remote. See the manual http://www.symphonic.us/support/manuals.aspx and fill in the model number. If the remote were still controlling the TV, the CH up and down buttons would let you choose the Picture settings to change and volume up and down buttons would change the setting.

The TV/VCR button on the universal remote may be swapping the remote to control the VCR only. (Thus losing the ability to control the TV.) (What does the manual say about the button for the universal remote?) You may want to consider a different universal remote - programmable or http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=ST419E&uuid=12844254442790 which has an exact substitute.

Check your cables for the sound issue (try new ones) and make sure that they are fully seated in the jacks.

I hope this helps.

37AV5OU Crackling sound followed by blank screen and no sound. Pilot lights and responds to remote. No change after unplugging/replugging

With most flat screens now, if you get no picture, its down to the screens flat cable connection at the rear of it, coming detached, either completely, or just moving slightly enough to break the perfect contact they need.
This explains why they still respond to the remote control, but still get no picture.
Some screens light briefly, then go blank, and this is either from the same loose cable problem, or the inverter inside going faulty (the inverter takes low power from the mains, and converts it to around 1000 volts to power the screens backlight).
It can be a nightmare job on large LCD screens, but the first thing to do on most is take all the back panels off, and re-seat the flat cable you will see going to the rear of the main screen panel. This job is best done by somebody who's seen these things before, and it must be done very very carefully. And never with the screen plugged in to the mains.
Good luck, hope that helps in some way.

Frozen Pronto

Hi

Thankyou for the offer, but I finally fixed it.

I searched high and low on the Internet and finally found a document that led me to believe it was WIFI problem. I reset (switched off and on) the WIFI receiver, and removed/replaced the battery in the remote control and hey presto. it worked and is still working.
