hi,l have you checked the connections from the joystick to the controller situated under the seat ? what is the name of the joystick and there should be a model no etc ?
Double check to be sure drive levers are fully engaged. Go down and up a few times. If problem persists have Hoveround come and check it out. One of the drive motors may have shorted out when you continued driving with gravel in the wheel.
Disconnect cables going from battery boxes to the control box. There is probably a catch that needs to be squeezed in, then pull and wigglt the connection block until it disengages. Release the straps over the battery boxes then remove batteries and covers. Lift up on the cover (you may need to push some cable back into the box) and put cover aside. Disconnect cables from batteries and attach to the new batteries. Same procedure, in reverse, gets you back to an operational MPV5.

seat is heavy. first unscrew set screw that holds the shaft sections tight. next put a board across the batteries, then get a bottle jack and start pumping. something's going to give. hopefully it will be your chair raising. Next go to Lowes and buy a pin to fit through the holes. release jack, enjoy your raised seat...
Do the casters swivel? If not, make them loose. Are the tires properly inflated? If not, inflate them. Does the silver post part of the joystick move up and down at all (if it does it's shot) Has it been exposed to outside moisture? If so your motor brake may be ceased and needs to be disassembled and cleaned. Hope this helped.
2. To lock the chair, depress and hold the ON/OFF button. After one second the controller will beep. Release the ON/OFF button. Move the joystick forward until the control beeps. Move the joystick in reverse until the control beeps. Release the joystick. There will be a long beep that indicates the controller is locked.
3. To unlock, turn the control system on. The speed/response indicator will be rippling up and down. Move the joystick forward until the control beeps. Then move the joystick in reverse until the control beeps. Release the joystick. There will be a long beep that indicates the controller is unlocked.
You will need to take it in for repair. 8 bar flash usually means you
have a bad joystick/controller. They can sometimes send it in to the
manufacturer to have it repaired. Find a reputable dealer and relay
this info to them.
