I have a Jensen VM9311TS, with the j-link cable I bought in 2006, before I had a 4gb Ipod 2nd generation and it worked fine(charging and playing at the same time), now I bought a iPod 8GB Nano 4th Generation and on the ipod it says the attached accessory will not charge the ipod, so my ipod battery runs dead. I have updated my ipod to the newest software.
The issue is that the 4th Generation iPod takes far more energy to run than your 4gb iPod. Updating the firmware has nothing to do with it. It's the amount of energy/voltage that this new 8Gig unit takes to run.
Think of it as a 4 cylinder verses an 8 cylinder engine. The 8 takes far more gas to run.
