I have a 51592 Rake and Vac Toro blower. Yesterday, when using the blower (all I use) the cord got hot and started to melt both the blower cord and extension cord; First time ever I have had this problem.

when you remove the vac part there should be another "grid type" part that snaps in place of the vac tube. This engages the safety switch and keeps your fingers out of the impeller.

If you're Toro electric blower is slowing down, throwing sparks, or not starting you may need to replace the carbon brushes. Replacing brushes and cleaning commutator early can prevent damage to motor armature!

There are Electric Motor replacement carbon brushes on E-bay for all three motor sizes (7 AMP, 10.5 AMP, and 12 AMP) of Toro Leaf Blowers (Toro Rake and Vac Super and Ultra Blower Vacuums)

- 12 Amp leaf blowers Toro Super (Old model 51552) through Toro Ultra (New model 51609).
- 10.5 Amp leaf blowers Toro Old through Toro New model 51573.
- 7 Amp leaf blowers Toro model 51586 and other Toro 7 amp blowers

go and check your products

If it has not run for awhile, check the brushes. they might need to be replaced. The plug is usually moulded right on power cord. That might have to be replaced because if there is a problem with a broken or disconnected wire right at plug there is no way to see it. Hope this helps.

The Mamco motor is WAY too much money.I bought brushes on E Bay and made them fit. #51591 takes 1/4 " square brushes.

The answer is wrong. This model and other Toro blowers with the plug built into the body (as opposed to the new design with plug on cord) has this problem when the plug does not completely mate with the cord. This happened to mine too. Unfortunately Toro does not provide a replacement part. HOwever, perhaps the new designed cord will fit as a replacement, but I am unsure of this. When my plug melts completely I will try that.
