Why does my dimension 8200 dell desktop say "strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility"

Rduy Cruz,
This error message references that your system Primary hard drive is not being Detected in the system. You can press F2 to enter the setup to see if the hard drive is even being seen. If not, exit out and shutdown the system. Unplug the power cable and open the computer to reseat the hard drive cables at the hard drive and at the motherboard connection. If that does not resolve the issue you may need to replace the hard drive IDE cable. If all this does not work you may need to replace the hard drive. Please post back if this does not resolve the issue.Below is a link to your online manual for your computer.

Hi There,

Please go to the below site and observe the codes with 3 beeps. Dell's beep codes are in series with pauses between. I think you could discover a much more definitve souce of your problem.

A friend gave me a Dell Demention 8200. When I boot it it beeps 5times then 2 another 2 then once. Nothing shows on the monitor. Suggestions?

Hello,

The reason you are getting the beeps is simply because there are some connections that have not been made in the system so when it is powering up it will not be able to come on fully.

Try to open it up and rerun all the connections that you can see. Turn it on first to see how it is faring inside. Then you turn it off and couple it back together.

Then you check the cable that connects the monitor to the System to see if there is any wrong connections made.

After running this check, your system will boot properly without any sound and it will bring up some information to the monitor.

Take care

Beeps, wont boot up

Most of the time when it beeps, and there is nothing show on the computer screen, it is a RAM problem. A stick of ram may have gone bad. If you have two sticks of ram in the computer, you can try to remove one stick at a time to see which one might have gone bad.

"my computer will only beep no screen,it beeps

Hi

You likely have a bad memory module. First, try removing all the memory and putting it back in again. This is called reseating. If you still get the errors, then try removing one stick at a time and testing it with each stick (provided, of course, you have more than one stick installed). If you only have one stick installed, remove it and turn on the computer and it should beep at you as well. That memory stick will need to be replaced.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution as fixya. Thank you.

DELL DImension does not boot

Try removing your RAM handling by the edges, clean the terminals with an eraser and reinsert firmly. Reboot your computer. Make sure you remove static charges from your body by placing your hands on a grounded object.
