You open the lid and wait for the carriage to come tothe center, remove all inks, lift the gray lever straight up and tilt the printhead forward from the top and lift straight out. The new one goes in bottom first and then you tilt back the top, lower the lever again and install the inks.

Error code 311

The Error 311 indicates a communication error between the Mac and the printer. If you upgraded the Mac from Leopard to Snow Leopard, there could be older driver files for the iP4300 that are conflicting with the new driver. Therefore I would start your repair by trashing all of the Canon files.

The first step is to disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the Mac.

The next step is to delete the current printer queue for the iP4300. Open Print & Fax, select the iP4300 in the list and click the minus ( - ) button to remove the queue. You can now exit Print & Fax.

The third step is to remove the Canon files. These are located in HD > Library > Printer > Canon > BJPrinter. Select all the files inside this folder and trash them. Then empty the Trash and restart the Mac.

With the Mac restarted, you can now run the installer for the 10.6 driver you downloaded from the Canon web site. Ensure this driver is version 10.26.0.0.

Once the driver has been installed you can connect the iP4300 USB cable to the Mac again and open Print & Fax. If the install has worked, the printer should automatically appear in the Printers list (note that this can take several seconds). If the printer does not appear, click + to add and select the Default view. The iP4300 should appear in this view. Select it and click Add. You may get a prompt stating the printer is already installed. If so, cancel this install and try printing with the new iP4300 queue.

If the error message still occurs, then I would try another USB cable. They have been known to cause the 311 error.

The orange light on Pixma ip4300 is flashing 5 times.

Hello, the error you describe is for a faulty print head. When the printer is on open the cartridge acces panel, remove all cartridges, remove the printhead and check the printer and printhead golden contacts. If they are dirty clean them with alcohool (make sure, when you clean the printers contacts, the printer cable is pluged off the power). If that dont help you will have to change your printhead (more than 100$).

My canon pixma iP4300 wont print cyan, I have perfoermed deep head cleaning, replaced cartrdges 6 times and still same problem

Unfortunately the problem is in the printhead situated just under where the ink cartridges go. It can be removed by removing ink cartridges and lifting it out from the top. You could try cleaning it or dispersing it in a mil of hot water for 1 minute while holding it. Then dry it, reinstall it and run deep clean again. Unfortunately this does not work very often but you could get lucky.
If not then only alternative is to buy another printhead and they cost more than the printer is worth.

I get an error code 6A00 and both lights are flashing on my Canon Pixma ip4300 printer

6A00 means the purge assembly on the right where the printhead parks, is stuck or jammed. Look to the right with a flashlight when the printhead is out of the way and look for paper scraps, or anything that doesn't belong.

Canon ip4300 service error b200 green and orange light keep flashing ink toner won`t move

Try this:

Pull the power cord out of the back of the printer.

Then move the printhead to the center and pull out the ink and the printhead. Clean the printhead and examine the bottom for burned areas.

With the printhead still out, close the cover and plug the power in and turn the power on. If your printer isn't damaged, it should go through all diagnostics and give you a solic green light. This means you probably need a new printhead.

Ink blockage in Canon MP 600 printer

Given that you may spend a considerably amount of time and money trying new cartridges, etc... it's probably best to invest in a new printhead (these are easily replaceable and considered consumables by Canon).

In the USA, purchasing from Canon directly is very cheap but elsewhere, like the UK it's prohibitively expensive so you may be better purchasing a refurbished iP4300 from the Canon Outlet dealer on ebay. This gets you a set of cartridges and compatible printhead for a lot less than just a printhead.

PRINTER WONT DO ANYTHING

Take the printhead out and run it under hot water.

Don't worry about getting the copper colored metal wet.

Set it to dry and reinstall into printer.

This has worked for me and others in the past.

Seeing as this error calls for a new printhead you have nothing to lose.
