My ps3 will turn on and it will show the ps3 welcom screen and then the logo goes away and the screen sits there and i cant go any further.

I had been trying to locate how to access the recovery options for the XO Vision XTAB tablet as well. Mine would show the XO Vision logo on start-up and then show a cursor in the upper left corner for a few seconds and then showed "ANDROID" a little further down and to the right of the upper left hand corner with a flashing cursor right behind it.

I was finally able to get into the recovery options press HOME, VOLUME UP, & POWER at the same time and hold for about 6 seconds or so. You need to let go before the XO Vision logo goes away. Wait until the logo goes away and a cursor should display in the upper left hand corner and then you'll get to the recovery / update options screen.

Use the VOLUME UP / DOWN keys to navigate the menu and then you'll press MENU to select the option. After that let it run through its processes until it completes. My attempt was unsuccessful at a factory reset and I'm still not sure how to fix it, however, you may have better luck.

this sounds like screen burn with rear projection and plasma when a picture is left sitting still on the screen sometimes it will burn in to the screen rendering it useless i left my ps3 paused on my old tv then when i changed to bbc one it still had a faint call of duty pause screen in the back it can vary from things like that to logos to your black rectangle the only way of repair is by replacing the screen all toghether i would advise you to just take the screen off and start using the tv as a projector if you cant find a screen it is only a bit of ribbed plastic but very hard part to find

Follow these steps to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

2. Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard video cables.

3. Press and hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This should reset the video settings.

4. Wait a few seconds, and the Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these steps:

Upon loading press F2 or del to enter bios setup and change the settings to display the acer welcome screen and the one you said about Microsoft logo and white box with green lines, you cant by pass it because it's windows loading screen

Your tv screen has problems with the video mode
that has setted up on your ps3, hold the power button till hear two beeps, this will reset the video mode of the ps3, and leavse you at a screen to set up the video mode of the ps3.
