I did it, I just use the sound card inf file from the AD1888_98SE then to SMAXWDM and use the smwdmCH5.inf either from SE folder or W2K_XP. Try it, at least you have your sound is on.
ps : sorry for my English

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5PEVM/#download

First select your current windows 32 or 64 bit
Try the vista driver it sometimes work
Select the Audio driver and hit global for download
The file needs to be unziped before use

ASUS P5PE-VM

Unfortunately, you are taking a chance installing windows 7 at this point, there is no support yet, and drivers may or may not work- no guarantees. I suggest that anyone trying windows 7 experiment on another partition first to test it out.

Asus p5pe-vm series motherboard driver wont work with windows 7

Windows 7 is still in the beta/testing stage from what I remember.

If you go to this page courtesy of ASUS:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the search box type in your motherboard p5pe-vm and click on P5PE-VM related files for download

It will come up with a seperate window that will ask you the OS that your installing and windows 7 is not an option which tells me that drivers aren't available for your motherboard just yet, it may down the line once windows 7 becomes publicly available.

P5PE-VM asus board audio driver

Hello there.

Please click here to download the drivers for your audio chipset. You may note that Vista is not listed but the driver version for Windows XP works in Vista, there was a problem with the installer cd on Vista but apparently manually running the installer for the audio card, from the cd works fine. Click here to see what other users of the same motherboard said.

Hope this helps.
