    clog drain

  • Anonymous Jan 15, 2008

Same problem, Appears the drain is restricted. I did not see the solution on how to clear the drain

How do I clean the drain tube?

  • fixen-jeff Jan 22, 2008

I have an older GE side by side. It could be the drain in the bottom of the freezer, but also the water / ice dispenser has no drain just a plastic crome plated grate covering a depression to hold a little water that may over flow from a glass. Not knowing the kids were playing in the water and filled the little depression so when you opened the freezer door some ran down the front of the door, but looked like the bottom of the door was leaking. Just a thought.

    what should i Do?

  • jlrg71 Feb 27, 2009

GE Refrigerator on freezer side is causing the issue. Ice is frozen on the bottom under the bin and starts to defrost at the edge and leaks out onto the floor.

I have water buidling up and then freezing at the bottom of my freezer causing the door to not close all the way at times and then the excess water will spill onto the ledge underneather the doors. This has been an issue since have the side by side. Any recommendations for correcting the problem. Thanks.

The water on the floor below the freezer door is due to an inadequate door seal. The door is not closing completely, either a foreign object at the bottom, or more likely, the freezer door gasket needs replacing.

There is a hose that attaches to drain hole in bottom of freez. remove from back after taking cover off. i found needle nose vise grips work well. it's tight fit and awkward just be patient and don't break fitting for water filter like i did.it plugs w/ food, dust...........chip away ice and that should do it.

  • Anonymous Oct 11, 2010

you need to remove clamp thus vice grips. try the hot water first see if that works.

If water is coming out from door seal, check for ice under bottom basket in freezer, then defrost drain is plugged either inside or outside of freezer.UNPLUG fridge from electricity!! Clear drain with hot water from tap pouring it threw grill holes @ lower back of freezer. It may take a few minutes to thaw.
If there is ice on back WALL of freezer, see if it leads upto the icemaker hence either icemaker filltube is leaking or the icemaker itself is leaking
If water is coming from door hinge & you have a water dispenser the leak maybe the plastic tube in the hinge area, repair as needed.
If water is coming from dispenser down front of door, check the ice shute door & make sure its closing all the way.
Finally check to see if water dispenser is dripping, this can be caused by air in water resivour if dispenser isn't used vary often or the fill valve can "weep" when it gets old & tired & needs to be changed

My GE Profile side by side fridge freeze the food in the bottom draw. I have set the temp to 43F but keep the fridge at 34 or colder. It frooze the water lines and tank in the fridge several times. What am...

You probably have a sensor issues there are two one for the freezer one for the frig. Check your freezer temp it should be at 0 degress at manufactor setting. If the temp is below -10 you freezer sensor is bad. Otherwise your frig sensor is bad. CHECK FREEZER FIRST!!!

GE side by side, GSS22UFMWW, water dispensor does not work, when I try it water leaks from the bottom of the frig. I can hear it pumping.

Turns out there is actually a small drain hole on the bottom of the freezer where condensation and such goes. Take out your bottom drawer/shelf and look in the back of the freezer.

Pulled out the bottom white tray that is under the wire shelving and at the back of the freezer is a small hole. Pour in a cap full of bleach and then 1 cup of boiling water. There can be condensation builds up and clogs the hole.

GE Freezer Leaking

Open the freezer door, remove the bottom tray, smash the ice on the floor with your fist to remove it. Now get a glass of hot water and pour it into the trough which is at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer. Allow a few minutes for the ice to melt then remove it with an ice pick or scrrewdriver. Once the ice is out, pour more hot water into the trough. Now take a long tube ( an old washer fill hose works perfectly) and stick one end in the hole in the trough. Now fill your mouth with warm water and blow it very hard through the tube. Once the drain is clear, pour some hot water and a very little amount of bleach through the hole.

GE side by side by side, water drips from bottom freezer door

I have the same problem. Just talked to a friend that's a great appliance repairman. he said I have to remove the panel in the back inside of freezer and there is a drain that gets clogged up, a little hole or tube.
clean that and should work fine and stop leaking. I haven't had time yet, but this weekend I'll do the deed. Hopes this helps ya!

Frig side is not cooling.

Check if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer, if so it is not defrosting. Many GE fridges need a new defrost heater every couple of years. If it's not defrosting, you can get by for a while by unplugging the fridge and leaving the freezer door open for 24 hrs, then plugging back in.
