I have a Samsung HL-S5087W approx. 5 years old. I had a problem with picture going out, the picture would come on after some high pitched sound and turning the unit on and off a few times. The picture was great while on but had a humming noise. I replaced the lamp, no help, replaced the ballast, no help. The unit still has a low hum. What do you think?

Hi,If you are getting a black and white picture, color discoloration or a humming high pitch sound, it will be an issue with the color wheel. The color wheel is a rotating disc that spins at high rpm and its in charge of creating the colors on your set.Found it here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-Replacement-Color-Wheel-HLS-HLT-Series-p/samsungcolor_wheel_bp96-01579a.htm You can replace it
your self here's an example: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsu/bp96-01579a.php
Good luck and God bless you!

I went through the same exact thing. I had to replace the DMD board. No problem after that.

I have a Samsung HL-P5067W/HL DLP tv. When I turn it on cold the lamp light blinks on and off. The fan makes a high pitch sound a relay clicks the TV goes back to standby and the lamp light starts blinking...

This sounds like a lazy lamp--that is getting hard to start. Try a new lamp first. If you are inclined to do so--get a bard bulb and install in the old lamp housing and save some money. Get a real PHILLIPS bulb--it will last a while--compared to cheap generics that are good for maybe 6 months !!

Where is the service menu for the bulb in the Samsung HL-S5087W DLP

if picture dim it is most likely the lamp and resetting the lamp timer will not help that.

I have Samsung DLP TV 50 inch HL-P5063W

First thing to look at is the color wheel this model uses--usually it will make a high pitched fan like sound but can make a grinding sound also.

If it slows down from the 12,000 or so RPM speed it will cause color issues.

HAVE GRINDING OR HIGH PITCHED SOUND?

I have a Samsung HL-R5677W TV set and now there is no picture at all. Every time you power on the TV the green light flashes and you hear this sound that repeats itself. It sounds like a camera flash, low...

I have a few questions which will determine what your problem may be.

Did or does the set make a high pitched fan like sound or a high pitched whine?

What have you examined so far?

As far as a lamp it is unlikely it will cause such a sound but if you remove it look to see it is intact and not shattered.

What is high pitched sound with samsung 52 inch dlp tv . works fine

Need to adjust the vs voltage in the power supply is to high, you have to use a multimeter on dc voltage and only go down 10% of the actual voltage.
