Sony Tv 42" projection tv will not turn with remote or button on front standby light blinks 9 times pauses then another 9 times. When this started we use to be able to continually hit the power button and it eventually come on. Now it won't....

The 9 flash error usually means an issue with one of the power supply boards in the TV. You can verify this by bypassing the shutdown. To do this with the set off and in the standby mode point the Sony remote at the TV and press these buttons in sequence within 5 seconds of each other, DISPLAY 5 VOLUME DOWN and then POWER. The set should turn on with no issues. Once it comes on there will be a diagnosis screen and the bottom entry on the screen should be ZCD. That entry should have a zero in the fail column. If it has anything besides zero then the power supply board is at fault. There are two power boards in this TV so I don't remember which one causes the issue whether its the G1 or G2 board. At this point if this is the issue then I would have a technician do the repair since replacing either board isn't that easy. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you....
