F1 error on the 1 draw dishwasher

I've never found personal ranting to work myself. However F1 is meant to be a flood warning, there's a sensor in the bottom of the drawer unit that stops the dishwasher if water accumulates in the casing, not the drawers!

So the error could be caused by a leaky hose, a broken or fouled lid or a blocked drain hose stopping the drawer from pumping out, at least these are the problems I've heard of or had.

TURN THE POWER OFF BEFORE TRYING THE FOLLOWING.

To see if you have water in the unit you need to remove the lower drawer, to do this open the lower drawer and you'll find the drawer release clips on each side of the drawer in the corner to the front and at the bottom. When doing this always support the front of the drawer in one hand while releasing the clips with the other. To release the clip push it in and slide it back 3-4cm while gently lifting the front of the drawer (don't try to lift it out, you only want to make the clip slide back easier!). Repeat this with each clip.


The drawer is on telescopic side rails, so while supporting the front you need to slide each side back, the clips you released are at the end of each rail and you can slide these easily by feeling just under the edge of the drawer. When they're both slid to the back you should find that the drawer will slide further forward and you can lift it out but don't try and pull it right out because all the hoses and wires are connected, just have a towel or something that you can put on the floor to protect the drawer and leave it there.


You should now be able to see into the base of the unit and see if there's water there. The sensor is attached to the bottom panel in the casing, if there's water puddled here you may have a hose or lid leak, you'll need to dry the casing out (thorougly, probably with a hair dryer before you can clear thF1 error on the 1 draw dishwasher - 751d9aa.jpg.


On older models the lid motors on either side of the unit (they were white) did have a reputation for breaking, if you see water splashed around the sides it might be one of these that's gone, check for tell-tale signs for leaky hoses too (that would be water where it's not meant to be).

To replace motors and hoses is up to you.

We have F1 error on both draws. How do we fix it ?

Cut the power for 1 min.

If you insist on keeping this overpriced piece of **** dishwasher that is pretty to look at but floods your floor, then I suggest you buy a second one on ebay or craigs list for parts that someone is throwing out. you certainly wont get any parts from the manufacturer. Regarding the F1 error, your washbasin is flooded. Pull the lower drawer out and find the two twist pins on either side of the drawer. Twist and pull them out and then slide the front of the drawer down and remove it. The entire drawer can now be removed from the rails. the basin is in the bottom of the cabinet. You have to dry it out completely (towel and hair dryer) or the F1 switch will keep coming on. Since you've gone this far, remove the rest of the dishwasher, take it a dumpster, or post it on eBay...you might get $200...so cut your losses now

Mine has come up with the F1 code as well. I'll look at it soon. Don't complain about dish drawers people! They are great in my opinion. I've had mine for 5 years and it's been good til now. And I suspect it flooded due to overloading and having an oven tray on the top to nicely spray water everywhere

From the service manual:

• Inlet hose to inlet valve connection loose
• Inlet valve body leak
• Damage to the fill or drain hoses
• Heater plate damage (chipped enamel)
• Seals/O Rings (pinched, contaminated or poor join)
• Dispenser (seal, diverter valve or weld leak)
• Lid area (lid motors not functioning correctly, lid off yoke or foreign object interfering with lid seal)

IDEman, June 2010 Thank You very much!! Pictures very useful. Repair was a snap. We love our Fisher-Paykel Drawer Dishwasher - very convenient and useful, as with anything today don't expect it to last forever - plastic parts - C'mon. Only one thing to add to the Solution - upon removal of the drawer - I noticed some calcium build up on drawer rim. Hard water I guess. I cleaned it off with soap and a scrub pad - to get a good seal on the lid. Just a little tweak to the solution. Once again I am very greatful and my wife is even more greatful to IDEman. Keep it up.

i've just had the F1 error as well on both draws as i stupidly put some normal dishwashing liquid in this dishdraw Fisher and Paykel and apparently you are not supposed to do that ROFL......says the wife

anyways after following IDEman's instructions and taking the bottom drawer out and drying it all really well........hair dryer and towels i got the machine going just now and just doing the rinse on top drawer first all is perfectly fine at the moment

I solved this problem simply by turning the unit off and washing my dishes by hand for two weeks and giving the fingers to the unit everytime i walked past it,Seems to be working fine now,Must have dried out? who knows,What a pile of c**p! Tinto From NZ

Question???? where is the impellor located? My unit finally took a crap after 10years. F1 is coming up, I took the bottom drawer out checked for leaks, didn't find any. However, I as I added water to make sure the lines were cleared, some black rubber piece came out the drain line? what the heck???

F1 on both drawers. Removed lower dryed it also with hair dryer replaced the plastic cover the second time. Still receive after couple of minute the F! sign. Please help.
