SyncMaster 740n Gamma/Brightness Issue

I have a SyncMaster 740n which has a brightness/gamma problem. When I turn the monitor on I can see everything. But then right after it turns on it seems that the brightness/gamma fades down real dark. I can barely see the screen. However it still shows the screen. I faced it towards the sunlight and can barely make out my screen. I was thinking the gamma/brightness in the screen to be broken. But why would it show my screen perfectly for a second and then fade slowly dark?

SOURCE: Brightness indicator windows does not go away

Dear sir This is common problem observed in many monitors compaq,HP,HCL,IBM this is happens mainly in rainy season due to moisture,by this moisture monitor button circuit get rust inside and button pad remain pressed. so it shows a strip at the middle of monitor like contrast or brightness. So this is minor problem just replace the monitor display control button sensor or circuit.Temporarily you can warm up the monitor by hanging a bulb of 60 watt nearer your monitor to takeoff the moisture.(Dont hang the bulb too near to the monitor). It definitely solves your problem.

My monitor stays white it wont show any display

Hi,
black-icon.gif This icon indicates the BRIGHTNESS control, more properly called BLACK LEVEL. It adds or subtracts an offset, or bias, into the red, green, and blue signals. This control should be adjusted so that black picture content displays as true black on your monitor. Misadjustment of this control is the most common problem of poor quality picture reproduction on computer monitors, video monitors, and television sets. Later in this document, I will explain how to set this control properly. The setting is somewhat dependent upon ambient light. Modern display equipment is sufficiently stable that frequent adjustment is unnecessary.

picture-icon.gif This icon indicates the CONTRAST control, preferably called PICTURE. It applies a scale factor (gain) to the red, green, and blue signals. It affects the luminance (proportional to intensity) that is reproduced for a full white input signal. Once BRIGHTNESS is set correctly, CONTRAST should be set for comfortable viewing brightness.

The gamma can be controlled through Video Card utility which can usually be accessed by going to display properties.

Depending on your video card software you may be able to right click your desktop, select properties, select settings tab and then choose advanced, towards the bottom. In there you may find a tab called Monitor and under that tab you may or may not (depending on your video card software) be able to adjust your color correction settings(gamma & brightness & contrast).

. Right click on the desktop and then select Properties

2. Click on the Settings tab and then click on the Advanced button.

3. Click on the Color Correction tab and you will see settings for Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma

Samsung flat panel monitor brightness indicator problem

This is a firmware issue.
The system is telling you that the monitor is having an issue with the brightness and is not able to regulate it by it's internal program.
It seems that this device is needing electronic service.
Hitting the menu buttons will not remedy this issue. You will need a service tech to diagnose the problem.

Cannot change the brightness

to adjust brightness levels you might want to modify ONLY the brightness, contrast and gamma settings. Others might mess up your colors or god knows what. You can also set up the GPU's brightness settings by going to the gpu's control panel, usually opened by right clicking the desktop and selecting your video card's control panel option. Then adjust the brightness, contrast and gamma options to suit your needs. Hope that helps!

DIM LCD

TWO WAYS TO TURN IT UP
1. Use the menu on the monitor to turn up the volume
2. right click anywhere on the desktop- select properties - select the "settings tab" at the top - click on the "advanced" button. this will open your video cards display settings .
you will need to look for a brightness controll or color corection section to adjust the brightness as all video cards have different software for controll.
Gamma will increase you brightness also. a ballance od gamma and brightness is neccessary, so change em both small amounts , then check your desktop or applications, then re-adjust.
This should Fixya up ! Please rate.....
