Hi,
I am sorry to say that your camera does not support remote capture.
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_a570-review/
In the first chart you can see that it.
I really doubt they will release a firmware update that will enable it. Don't forget...they want us to buy a newer camera to replace out older ones...
I think yonatanh deserves the credit here...

Hi Dave
If your Camera supports remote capture, it should be on your CD. (the cd comes with the camera) if it didt install, you dont have the CD, or something happend, you can download it in this link.

Then if your camera supports remote capture, it shoud work fine.
Hi,
The CD is a general CD that comes with different models of Canon cameras, some of which support remote capture. Unfortunately, your model does not and there is no firmware update or anything of the sort that will allow it to. Sorry.
DCRP, which is a reliable source about these things, agrees with Canon and says it doesn't support remote capture.

Most major manufacturers supply manuals
online so if you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, you
may be pleasantly surprised as usually, if available, one is able to
download, by model number, Customer
Instruction Manuals, Dealer
Network for spare part supplies as
required.
The information is normally free of
charge.
I hope this helps.

Thanks to all who replied.
I had just assumed (silly me!!)that as my old Powershot A40 had remote capture, that a newer version would have all the facilities of the older more basic model.
Is there any way to lobby Canon to provide an update to the software(firmware?)to provide this useful facility?
Cheers,
DavemacP
