My DC17 suction hose doesn't have any suction occasionally.

Too often my DC17 suction hose doesn't ****. The beater bar unit always works but when in the upright position sometimes the suction hose will work but many times it won't. Sometimes there will be suction for a few minutes and then it slowly fades until there is no suction for the hose. Thoughts?

I will clarify that when the suction for the hose is not working the power switch doesn't seem to function. Perhaps there is a short in the cord at the pivot point of the beater bar?

Very little suction at beater brush.

Hey, this is Leland with Crucial Vacuum,

If the brush bar is not working properly there may be several reasons.

Firstly, the motor may be the problem. If you hear any noises while the machine is running, you should contact the original manufacturer for trouble shootingsolutions.

Secondly, your vacuum may be in need of new parts. By changing either the brushroll or belts, you should be able to increase the quality of the suction.

My vaccum is about 1 yr old and has very little suction, in addition the sweeper is not working

You probably have a broken belt on the beater bar (sweeper) or a string/rope caught in into to cause it not to turn. Last option if it is a cannister type, that the electrical connection in the hose are not connected to the beater-bar unit well.

If suction is bad, you may have a full bag (replace with a fresh one). Alternatively, you may have a clog somewhere along the hose or just inside the unit.

Poor Suction

The flexible hose between the beater bar housing and the connection to the dust bin might have come loose or has a hole in it. Check this hose for your low suction problem.

My dyson dc17 will not roll across the carpet, because their is too much suction.?

Turn on the beater bar with the gray button next to the red power button. The powered beater bar will "propel" the vacuum across the carpet.

Power only comes on when vacuum is not upright

Power or beater bar? Beater bar is supposed to turn off when upright, but suction motor should still run.

No suction for rugs but the hose works fine. Removed the canister and suction is at that point

Hello,

Remove the base plate and beater bar. Clean the suction cavity behind the beater bar. That's where they almost always plug up.

My dyson animal is hard to push on carpet - the beater bar is still operational. When I turn off the beater bar and run the vacuum on hardwood the beater bar stops moving, but it still ''rolls'' on the...

If suction is not what it was, check all of your hoses and connections for vacuum leaks. And the beater roll should always be turning - check out the belt for slippage.

No suction from base or hose attachment

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Eureka vacuum cleaner. I don't have the problem with the beater bar, but I had the problem with the attachment hose not getting any suction. I found out that I was putting attachment on the wrong end of the hose. The end that you use in the front. Don't how I got that confused because it always worked before. Hope this helps with the hose part of the problem.

No suction

so the red hose isn't connected to a part on the vaccum so like it is connected to the connester but not to an opening just above the beater bar, this is the only idea i can supply you with. good luck, maybe i got lucky and helped you out.
