Does the power supply have its own power switch?

It is located next to where the power wire plugs into the back of the PC.

If it does have one, it may have been accidentally turned off when you moved it. It will be a small black square switch. Just click it to the other position.

    If it doesn't...

Emachines are notorious for 'buggy' power supplies, and it (the power supply) may require replacement.

Without knowing the exact model of your PC, it's hard to tell if it has the switch or not.

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2008

Aside from the usual troubleshooting (disconnected cables, etc), the only other thing can be a bad power supply.

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2008

OK, that's a start. However, I've seen weird situations where the fans would work, but no video, etc.

Was the PC "bumped" or dropped when it was moved?

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2008

There's a SLIM chance that the power switch connector has fallen off the mainboard.

If you post the exact model number, I will try to find a wiring diagram for you.

While I look for the diagram, read this forum regarding Emachines power supplies...

Moving internet to another room

As long as you have an active DSL connection in the new room, yes you should be fine. All settings are saved in the router's flash memory and won't be lost by disconnecting the power. Make careful note of where everything is plugged in (a digital photo is great!) and in the worst case, you can move it all back until you figure out what is wrong.

or you can remove all of the plugs from the console: AC, remote sensor, AV. This is important: You must also unplug the AC from the electrical outlet. Then wait 45 seconds, then plug the AC adapter back into the wall and your console. Power On.

Power problem?

Try th set in another room, if only to see if this phenomenom happens with other light fixtures or appliances. Would suspect the switching type supply in the TV as suspect if the problem "moves" with the set....accordianman
