I seem to have a problem with no image being stored in the file (a black screen). I am now using a Lexar udma professional 4 GB C/F card , but my Scandisk Extreme 3 16 gb has been working fine too .The problem started two days ago when i pressed the AF button and the shutter release button . The screen came up with part photos in horizontal lines, this happrened several times then corrected it's self, three photos later the sreen became totaly blank . I have had this problem before , it was overcome by putting the card in to a cannon camera to see if the card worked ,it did and when placed back in to my nikon it carried on working, until now. My friend has now sold the camera so iv'e taken it to jessops to see if they could see what the problem was .The yonng lady went through the menu and formated the card and could not find the problem and surgested getting in touch with you . To make sure the card is formatted correct, do a format in the camera. I'm not sure if the newest UDMA CF cards are compatible with your camera. But I think you still have an old card, you can format. Please also check all contacts in the camera are still straight. Us a bright light and a magnifying glass.
Also take time to check your battery is still good. I'm sure you have more than one. Also check the battery contacts, if they ate clean and shiny. Only to be cleaned with a dry cloth or cordon swabs.
When you removed the battery, you already did a reset.
Till now I can't think of more to help you.
Nikon Capture when initially installed you have to tell it what types of files to open.... IT has 3 tick boxes for NEF (Nikon Raw Files), TIFF, & JPEg, you actually have to tell it which types you want NX to open. The easiest way to fix the problem maybe to reinstall the program and reset the file association as you install it.
Hope this may help.
i'd take or ship the camera to Nikon, or an authorized Nikon service center, for repair. you're unlikely to get around this problem any other way. good luck...
You can't view live images on the monitor; the D2X does not have a Live View capability. A suitable version of Nikon Camera Control Pro may allow you to connect the D2X to a computer.
