Tv picture shrinks

I have a philips 60" projection tv model number 9p6031c. The tv screen shrinks whenever the picture is white or bright. When we darken the picture it doesn't shrink, but if the show or movie gets brighter, the pitcure shinks to the center of the screen and you can barely watch the tv. How can we fix this?

This is a common problem on certain models of Philips Magnavox TV sets. The most common symptom is the screen will shrink and expand over and over. After the TV heats up for a while the video will work like normal. After a few weeks or months your TV will eventually stop working and not have video. You can get complete parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

If its shrinking this is and easy fix...Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and get there shrinking video kit for your model.
As for the colors they are likely just washed out which is due to the CRT coolant. The same site has repalcement CRT fluid for your projection TV also.

No Sound & No Picture

I had the same issue. The screen would shrink and then expand over and over. After thrity minutes it would correct itself.
After a few months of doing this it just broke - no sound and no videe but the power light was still on.

I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.

To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com

Picture

Its a slight possibility that a 2.00 Part called a capacitor could be bad on the screen drive voltage source. But most likly it sounds like the Picture tubes are comming to the end of there life expectancy. If the crts are weak there is a crt rejuvinator that could possibly clean the grids off each color gun. But this is a crap shoot, as sometimes it destroys the tubes. These type of repairs are not for the handi-man or a consumer to do. There are no real user replaceable parts inside so unless your able to solder and know the HI Voltage saftey issues, you should call a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
