Easiest way to tell is pop off the white cover on the ice maker, you'll see letters on the ice maker,if you get a jumper wire and stick it into T and H the ice maker should start to spin, your jumping the motor out,if it doesn't the ice maker is bad, then put the jumper into the V and the L,this should fill the ice maker, you're sending power down to the valve by doing this,if you don't hear the valve buzzing or anything and no water comes right out to the ice maker the valve most likely is bad,if water doesn't fill the ice maker, you can fill it with water and after 2 hours it should produce ice in the bucket,if it does then you know it's the valve,if it doesn't drop ice the ice maker is bad.also if i were you i would change out the ice maker anyway even if the valve is bad,the mold in the ice maker usually rots out after 7 to 10 years, you'll see specks in the ice,you can look into the mold of the ice maker to see if it is bad, you'll see all the green liner peeling out and make sure you change out the water filter at least once a year, they want you to change it like every 6 months but depending on how much water you use most times you can get a year out of them.one more thing make sure there isn't any ice built up in the fill tube to the ice maker,if the valve is bad sometimes water will drip through and it will freeze up in the line,if so melt it out with hair dryer but by sticking the jumper into the V and L should let you know if it's frozen, water should come out when you jump it if it is the ice maker.these are the easiest ways to check it or just change out both parts.

sorry you have that messed up system with the optics in it, part W10757851 you can try goggling to see how to check the optics it will tell you how to check the board by how the light flashes, two flashes might be normal,it's fun but like i said if the ice maker has never been changed out the mold is probably rotted out and should be changed anyway and hopefully this will fix your problem because if it is the optic boards they are not cheap, try filling the ice maker with water and see if it dumps out any cubes and go from there,it could be just a bad valve hopefully, that's the easiest way to see.it's a pain to jump out this ice maker.good luck.

SOURCE: Ice maker Stopped producing ice

What is sounds like is somehow either the water delievery system is clogged or frozen. If your getting water out of the door, then it is probably frozen. If you are able to turn off the freezer for a bit, that would be an easy way to see if that is the problem without having to deal with Whirlpool or a handyman.

SOURCE: Whirlpool side by side refrigerator, model # ED25PQ

Under the right side of the fridge in the back there is a dual valve for water and ice. Try changing it out, most likely the ice side is not working. Make sure you unplug the unit first

SOURCE: overfilling ice tray with water

Does the water eventually stop flowing? If not, your solenoid valve is sticking open and defective. If you also have ice and water through the door, this is a dual solenoid valve. If it does eventually stop, your ice maker could be sticking in fill mode. Either way this could be a potential for a flood. I would recommend replacing both.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold Ice maker doesn't work

You definitely have something wrong with the ice maker if the water has turned to ice Schmerold. And the IM is not harvesting. The way it works is the IM needs 28 degrees F to harvest. If the coils below in the condenser are dirty the IM won't try to harvest. The Ice Mold thermostat is mounted on the firewall of the Ice mold in its own little cubby whole. To access it you will need to remove the head. Then remove the shell separating the Ice mold from the heads housing. There you will find the ice mold thermostat. It's only function is to get it on. If the temperature is right in the freezer. To test this precious thermostat one needs only to stick it into a freezer and let it hang out for an hour or so. Then grab it and check it for continuity. If it is open it has failed and belongs in the file 13. It is easily replaced and inexpensive.
On your model, ice maker operation is controlled by an optical sensor mounted on both sides of the freezer liner. The usual failure of this model is a bad emitter board, located in one of these recesses. You may view the service instructions for checking this sensor.

Whirlpool ED5VHEXVQ03 side by side. Ice maker is not making ice. Checked water line - okay. Checked water valve - okay. Water filling tray - okay.

Whirlpool Ice Makers are about the hardest working part on your refrigerator and their average life is about five years. You can fill the tray with tap water if the ice slots are already empty and let the water freeze. If after the water freezes and the ice drops to ice bin then the water control valve.

Click Here=> 4389177 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced. You mentioned the water is filling the tray OK then my focus would be on the ice maker.

It sounds like the water inlet for your ice maker is now frozen. Blast a hair dryer around the waterinlet to the ice maker for 5-10 minutes, reconnect the ice-maker and you should hear the sweet sound of flowing water

No water to ice maker.Ice maker quit making ice.

What I found was the problem was that I had not changed the filter on a regular basis.Because of this the water flow to the ice maker was restricted. What this caused was the water inlet tube on the ice maker to freeze up.On my unit it is a black rubber tube about 11/4 long on the right side. You can see it if you know what you are looking for.If you squeeze it you can tell if it is froze or not.You can use a hair drier to thaw it out or squirt water up into the tube .It does not take very long..To make sure it is clear disconnect the tube on the back of the fridge and blow into it.If there is no restriction the tube is clear. After you have determined the tube is clear add water to the ice tray so the unit will make ice this will start the ice maker to cycle. Its making good ice now.

Model ed22dqxaw10 - water enters the ice maker

If the water enters as if it were on a timed basis it would be clear that your ice maker either needs rebuilt or replaced. All signals are sent to the water control valve from the ice maker. The ice maker if working properly will begin its cycle when the thermostat tells the icemaker to begin by heating the elements below the ice maker to warm slightly to loosen the ice from their ice slots. After that any confusion would be in the front of the ice maker to tell the water to come on before the ice maker emptys its ice and begins a 7 second refill of water. If you would like to rebuild your ice maker click HERE and enter your model number ED22DQXAW10 then click on photo 11 ice maker on left of screen. If you would prefer a Replacement Icemaker Click Here=> P/N: 4317943 Try disconnecting the ice maker side of your dual water dispenser to insure that it is not the problem. My whirlpool side by side icemaker does not work, will not pull water into tray, can hear tray dropping what is suppose to be ice

Hi, Check the inlet tube that feeds water to the back of the ice maker and see if it has plugged up with ice. This is most common issue. If not, you will need to test the inlet valve to see if it is ok. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Ice Maker is not working on my Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator

I removed six screws from the ice maker to pull it out of the refrigerator.  Their are four screws holding the ice maker in place and two screws on the ice maker door.  Had problems getting the electrical harness disconnected.  Used hot water to removed the ice cubes that were struck in the ice tray.  Poured all remaining water into a bucket and re-installed ice maker.  As of now, the ice maker is making ice !
