How to Stop pen drive opening directly inserted usb port in windows 8

Hello

At some point, you enabled "Auto Play" on your computer and that is why the PC opens the USB drive when you connect it.

To change this, go to CONTROL PANEL and then double click AUTOPLAY.

You can set what you want to happen when each type of media is inserted into your computer on this window.

In your case, look at the REMOVABLE MEDIA area and change it from "Open a folder to view files" to "Take no Action".

The pc does not detect the usb drive, the usb flashes. But nothing comes up

Make sure it is inserted all the way into the usb port. If nothing comes up, this doesn't mean it isn't connected, it just means autoplay isn't on. Once it is plugged in, go to the start menu > computer. This will open a folder with all your drives, both internal and external. Double click on your flash drive's icon to open it.

The memory card is not showing my pictures when i plug my camera into my laptop

Hi,

Please follow the steps below for connecting the Camera to the Computer for transferring the images.

Turn the Camera ON.

Turn the Computer ON.

Make sure to Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera.

Set the USB CONNECT option in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera to PTP. [Set the Mode dial of the Camera to Camera, press the Menu button, select SETUP-->SETUP2-->USB CONNECT-->PTP-->OK.]

Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable.

The Computer will automatically install the USB Driver for the Camera.

When the installation completes, an AutoPlay window will appear.

In the AutoPlay window, click the Import Pictures option.

In the Importing Pictures and Videos window, click the Import button.

If the USB connection from the camera is not recognized by the computer, disconnect the USB cable and repeat changing the USB CONNECT option to PictBridge, Mass Storage or Auto.

If the issue persists, try connecting to a different USB port on the Computer.

Try re-installing the USB Driver from the Device Manager.

Good Luck!

I want to know what i need to do next after i have put my sd card into my computer, a green light comes on, and i want to know how to get my pictures to come up on my computer, so i can do any adjustments...

1. When you insert a memory card into your computer, it'll be detected automatically and an "AutoPlay" dialog box will ask you to what to do ?

2. Select "Open folder to view files" option from the list.

3. Now, you can easily view the files in the memory card by double-clicking them.

4. If the "AutoPlay" dialog box doesn't appear, goto Start >> My Computer. Here you can view the memory card as a "Removable Drive" with some name!

5. Double-click the memory card's icon to view the files inside it.

6. After your job is complete, you can remove the memory card by just clicking the USB device icon at the right side of Task Bar (Notification Area)!

7. On click, a single option pop-up will appear with "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device" message!

8. Just click on that pop-up. A "Safe To Remove" message box will appear.

9. Click on OK button, and manually remove your memory card!

please rate this advice if it helps...tc! :)
