The switch that the handpiece activates is not working. Could be optical, magnetic or physical. It may need cleaning, adjusting or a wire connection repaired. Also check the curly cord and its connections between the handpiece and telephone.

How do i change the number of rings before voicemail picks up on a samsung rugby

For all of you that want a real answer here ya go. This isn't something you can change on your phone this has to be changed with your service provider. If you are with AT&T, like I am, then this is the solution for you (link of where I found it below as well). 1. enter *#61*11# and press send/talk on your phone.
2. write down the number your calls are currently forwarded to (usually +1401#######, but not always). this is your voicemail deposit number.
3. decide how long you want the phone to ring in 5 second intervals. the maximum time is 30 seconds. i'd recommend 25 seconds or less, as using 30 may cause you to be billed for a minute of airtime each time someone is forwarded to voicemail.
4. now enter **61*[number from step 2]*11*[number from step 3, use 2 digits]# and press send/talk.

example
voicemail deposit number is +14015551212
you want it to ring for 20 seconds
you would enter **61*+14015551212*11*20# and press send/talk.

if you have trouble with the above procedure, you can always call customer care at 800-331-0500 to change it.
OR QUESTION: How can I adjust the number of times my wireless phone will ring before the caller goes to voicemail? ANSWER: Contact Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 or dial 611 from your wireless phone to change the amount of time your phone will ring before going to voice mail. The adjustments made by Customer Care are based on the traditional ring heard by the caller, not the unique Ringtone you hear from your phone. I just wanted to add that increasing the ring length to 30 seconds will not cause you to be charged a minute should the caller go to voicemail. This was confirmed by an AT&T technician.

When the phone rings and the person answering the call can hear the caller the problem is: the caller cannot hear the voice of the person that answered the phone.

you can try to use a headset and see if it will work
normally if the caller cannot hear the receiver theres some problem with the mouthpiece. if the headset and loudspeaker works then you have to go to the store and have it fixed.
hope this help

Please ..need to know how to get other call on call waiting.. cordless phone 5.8

Adding call waiting as a feature to your telephone can help you take calls that you are waiting for without having to stay off the phone until that important call comes in. With call waiting, you get a beep when you are on another call to let you know that another call is coming in. If you want to take the call, you follow the simple steps outlined in this article.
  1. ep 1 Order call waiting from your phone provider if you do not already have it. Cal waiting works best with caller ID features that give you the phone number and name of the person calling you. Phone numbers that have blocked numbers or use *67 to mask their caller ID will not show up on caller ID.
  2. Step 2 Take a call when your phone rings. While you are talking on the phone and hear a beep, you are receiving another phone call. Using your caller ID function, whether it's on your answering machine or on your handset for the telephone, see who is calling you. If you want to talk to them, quickly press your "talk" button to put the other call on hold or disconnect. Press "talk" again to take the incoming call.
  3. Step 3 Disregard the other phone call if you do not want to terminate the call you are on. The new call coming in may go to your answering machine. Or if you have the call back feature on your telephone, you can simply call *69. Your phone will dial the number of the person whose call you just missed.
  4. Step 4 Use call waiting as politely as you can. You might tell someone who you are talking to that you are expecting an important call and may have to terminate the call abruptly. Call waiting calls should be answered as quickly as you can. After four rings, most phone calls go right to the machine or people hang up. Promise to call your first caller back if you have to interrupt the call

Call Waiting

When 2-nd call is ringing (you can hear ringing in the hand set while talking) word "Recall" appears in display. Press the button below the word "Recall" (top left side, dark grey button) and then press number "2". You will get connected with second caller while the first is put on hold. When finished with second caller, press again word "Recall" and then number "1" and you get connected back to first caller.

Audio Feedthrough

wow, no one has posted a response for this poor sap. I don't know what to do, but someone should at least post some insight!
Personally, I think it may be a power issue, as possibly the current going to the phone is not stable, so it is interfering with the machine's abilities to listen for someone else picking up on the other end.

Phone rings but when answered the caller can not be heard.

Your ear speaker is bad. You may need to replace it.. This one made by HTC. You can check on Ebay for replacement part. Other issue could be is the hardware part of the ear speaker may be broken or defected will cause loosing contact with the main circuit or you can say it is short. Only solution is open the phone and check for that area to see for any defective.
