Hello my friend, Canon BJC-1000SP is always compatible for vista provided that you install the canon BJC-1000SP Driver for Vista Platform. According to Canon, the CanoScan N650u/N656U is not compatible with Windows Vista.  They have not released a compatible driver.  You could attempt to use a different driver, but that causes the system to become unstable and crash often, if it works at all.  I recommend upgrading to a Vista-compatible scanner.
