Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)
WEP is an older network security method that's still available to support older devices, but it's no longer recommended. When you enable WEP, you set up a network security key. This key encrypts the information that one computer sends to another computer across your network. However, WEP security is relatively easy to crack.
Hello
The WEP Code of the router is basically the security code for the router.. It is the most widely used option for Small office networks and home networks.
There are usually 3 options, WEP, WPA, WPA2, which varies from the least secure to the best security. WEP(Web Encryption Protocol) and all other Security protocols are integrated to secure the network, thus, if someone needs to connect, they need to enter a security(WEP) code.
Hope this can Help.
Kind regards
Andrea
