My kitchenaid proline ksm5 has a clicking noise as the arm rotates... I thought I heard my wife say the attachment hits the sides as it rotates, but I didn't see it do that this morning.

SOURCE: I have the KitchenAid 5

hello step ..... yes. You may have to adjust the height of the bowl a wee bit as it sounds like the dough hook is hitting the side of the bowl..

It tells the steps in your manual.

Easy to do.

If you don't have the manual you can download it for free here http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=KAD

Kitchenaid proline ksm5

To lube the planetary you take off the drip ring and knock out the pin that retains the planetary to lube the planetary gear. If you want to do the gearbox you need to continue and split the gear cases. Back cover off and 9 case screws. That's it, you are in where all the grease is.

My Kitchenaid mdl: KSM 155gbca is making a loud bumping noise with or without an attachment.

It is more than likely in the planetary or the fuse gear inside the gear box. Try it once you have the planetary off before you go looking inside the gear box. Easiest is planetary problem but far far more likely is the fuse gear.

Kitchenaid 600 pro

After many years dealing with Kitchen Aid mixers I purchased a pro 600 for my wife as an early Xmas gift. After just a few usages it started making a clunking noise in the gear housing. I removed the housing and discovered the casting is of very poor tolerances and the main drive assembly was lifting from the torque of the motor and causing the gear assembly to lift out of the casting and skipping on the worm gear. I am sure it is going to happen to many more of these units as the casting area that holds the bearing in is to large obviously an overdue mold in the casting process. Time for a recall Kitchen Aid.

Is a kitchen aid model # KSM5PSAC the same as KSM150SP?

The KSM5 and the KSM150 are different mixers. They are both 5 quart mixers and use the same gearing and motor. However the bowl design is different. The KSM5 is a 5 quart bowl lift, which means the bowl locks into the arms of the mixer and raises towards the head of the mixer, where the ksm150 mixer is a artisan mixer, which is also a 5quart mixer, but the head of the mixer tilts back and the bowl twists into the base ring to lock into place. These two mixers will take different bowls and beaters.

Have a kitchenaid stand mixer Model # KP26N9XER the attachment hub is not turning correctly it only turns a liitle at a time with a thumping sound. Opened up looked at the gears and their are bits of metal...

Obtain a copy of the Repair Part List for your model from Kitchenaid.com
Download the Service Manual :
http://www.kitchenaidparts.be/centers/servicemanual/mixer.pdf

It is not exactly for your model but you can learn a lot from it.
Open up your mixer. Get rid of all the grease. Replace the Worm Gear.
Use fresh Kitchenaid Food Grade Grease on all gears.

Caution: Do not use a screwdriver to pry out the Planetary Assembly.

Kitchenaid Pro 6 Bowl Support bent?

Hi. Your mixer should still be under warranty. Call Kitchenaid Customer Service and tell them your story. If you tell them that you tried to fix it by spreading the arms, your warranty will be deemed void. Kitchenaid is usually very good at replacing under warranty. If you found this solution helpfull, pleas rate it Good luck! ricardok45
