are you trying to get your sub on cause if its on and not playing then you have to go to your osd menu to change your sub seting to get it to come on and play

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2017

True, you have to change the sub setting in the on board display (osd). Check your owners manual and find out what you need to do to get to the speaker configuration page. Make sure the sun is set to "ON". Then loon on the back panel of your receiver and make sure your sub is connected to the "sub out" RCA plug outlet. If your receiver is 5.1, 7.1 and has analogue outputs be certain you do not have your sub cable plugged into the sub input for the analogue amp section, once set up correctly then check the back of your sub to make sure the phase and LEF effect switch is set correctly and the sub is turned on. Read your sub and reciever manual to make sure you have it right and turn on the set and see what you have.

Surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.

I have a active sub woofer (akari bazooka) but the only connections available are the speaker connections. The front of the sub woofer has volume adjustment. How can I connect this sub woofer to my Harman...

hi,
You can't connect the pre out of your AVR to this sub woofer. Do one thing connect the frond left/ right channel speaker "B" out of harman kardon to the sub woofers left right speaker in put. you can connect the speaker out "A" to your normal left right speakers. Remember to switch Speaker "A" and "B" in ON position in your AVR. Also do one thing go to the speaker setup of AVR and switch OFF (slelect NONE) the sub woofer. This will disconnect the sub woofer pre our and the sub frequency will mix with frond left right channels.

How to hookup

hi,
if u want to hook up the sub with ur av receiver the connect the sub woofer output of ur AVR to any one (left or right) input of ur sub woofer. then connect its power . set the frequency range between 90 and 120Hz. set the volume of sub woofer to 40% of its total. also check the av receives speaker setting. goto speaker setup and make ON the sub woofer out.

if want to connect the sub to a stereo amp without sub out. then connect the amps speaker line to the speaker input of sub woofer and connect the speaker out of sub to left and right speaker ( make sure to connect the red to red and black to black). set the volume and frequency as above

The sub-woofer output on the receiver is not working. I have tested the sub-woofer (speaker) and it works. And I have tested the cables and they work. The problem lies within the receiver. How can I fix...

I don't have the manual, but if YOU do, crack it open and find the part where you tell the receiver it HAS a subwoofer and any other settings that direct bass toward it.

Connection of a subwoofer to Yamaha ZX-V490

Get a powered sub-woofer that has speaker level inputs, then run your front speaker wires into the sub-woofers speaker level input and then run a set of speaker wires from the sub-woofers speaker wire output to your front speakers. This is a common way to use a sub-woofer with a receiver that doesn't have a sub-woofer output.

Most powered sub-woofers have these connections, just check it out first before you buy one. They look like speaker jacks on the back of the receiver.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

RD-6108

Your sub woofer needs to have it's own power amp i.e. a "powered" sub woofer:

Assuming your sub woofer is powered & connect as shown then check the following setting:

Home theater system protection kicks out

Nice write-up.

http://www.sherwoodusa.com/pdf/RD-6500(English).pdf

On page 6 of the manual it states you should use a powered subwoofer and the unit provides a sub output on the rear panel for it. The message from the amp kicking out is that you're not going to get away with your workaround.

I would advise you to purchase a nice amplifier (2-channel bridgeable or single channel) for the subwoofer. That way you'd be sending only LFE signals and your receiver has provisions for adjusting its volume relative to the rest of the channels. I use a nice 5-channel Carver for my 3 subs and both Rear Surrounds.

On eBay I see what I would get if I were you - a Carver M-200T (120W x2; 300W bridged). I have one.
