I just purchased a laptop and I can't watch TV on it
I just purchased a HP laptop and I can't watch TV on it. I was told by the tech at Best Buy to purchase an Expresscard TV tuner. Is this correct before I spend money.
Re: I just purchased a laptop and I can't watch TV on it
Yes, you cannot watch TV without one! They are easy to set up and produce both digital and analog. some of the more expensive ones even allow HDMI. cost anywhere from $50-$300

The best way to watch live tvs on laptop requires the following.
1. Fast broadband connection. 2. Good configuration of laptop with a display good card. This is in case you wish to watch live tv through internet.
Second option available to you is via tv tuner card. but that will make your laptop stuck to one location as through tv tuner card you cannot receive frequency via wifi.

It is hard to find a company that will tell you where the parts come from. Most parts you cannot purchase in america. Here is a website I would suggest that will help you at best! Please copy and paste in your browser http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/partsdirectory/catalog_solutions_AP.htm
If you purchased a warranty with Best Buy they should honor it. Before sending this to the US, call Best Buy and get a confirmation, tracking, case, or verification number.
Dell should honor their warranty if it's still valid regardless of where you purchased it.
First of all, dont go with a name brand and you wont have to deal with the company BS. you can build (or have built) a better computer from someone like tigerdirectdotcom and save a couple hundred dollars. granted you will have to buy an operating system for it , but you will want a system disk to reinstall the next time it crashes. Remember.. it's not IF your computer will crash , it's WHEN. I would be happy to recommend some parts or at least a barebone starter box if you tell me what you want to use the computer for..no reason for overkill..
First, I sincerely apologize for your terrible experience. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be!
The route you should follow would be to contact 1-888-Bestbuy and ask to speak to Consumer Relations. They should be able to assist you with this matter.
If all you're looking for is wireless internet within your home, then you can simply buy a wireless router off the shelf from Best Buy. However, a wireless router will only provide a range of a couple hundred feet, perhaps a couple of hundred yards. Essentially, it only provides internet access at a single fixed location. I'm getting the impression you're looking for something more.
If you're looking to have internet access wherever you go, no matter how far from home, you're going to need a subscription to wireless internet from a cellular provider such as AT&T or Sprint. They sell both internet access as well as the cards used to connect to the network, so check out their websites to explore your options.
