Sometimes when this happens you need to unplug everything but the power cord, keyboard, mouse and monitor. Then start it up see if it does it again if it doesnt then it was something that was plugged in. If it works just plug everything back in when it boots up. If it doesnt and if you installed new hardware try taking it out then starting it up. If it works then it was the hardware you installed.
Hey for this problem most of the times user thinks that motherboard got corrupt.
but try this first. use your Operating system CD and repair it
use command chkdsk for repairing.
If not then format the system
