Does anyone know what the part number is of the IR Receiver for this unit, I am getting sick and tired of the receiver intermittently responding when it feels like it so I want to go in and replace the old part, but I have no idea what the part number is.
Here are the parts for your model available for purchase from vance baldwin. I'd suggest you give them a call and ask them whether they have the IR receiver (or the chip that the IR receiver is a part of). Since they have more parts for the newer model and older model, they may very well have other parts for your model, or the parts for the newer\older models may be compatible with your model.

Go online to Sony, contact customer support and the technical department for a circuit diagram so the correct number for the ir receiver can be extracted.
Hi!
Transmitting doesn't mean it's working, What you should do to test it is use a good quality universal remote such as a Logitech Harmony and first program the preset code for your receiver into the Universal Remote. If that works, you know your OEM remote has gone bad, at least for those buttons. If it doesn't then you you should attempt to have your Universal Remote "learn" the IR signals from your receiver's remote If the controls still don't work, there is a problem with either your IR receiver on your receiver or the the circuitry that proceesses the signals into commands.
Good Luck!
What type receiver is your TV connected to? Do you know your remote model number - located on back of the remote at the top (ex. 2 digit number 5.3 ir). The majority of our TV 1 remotes work in IR mode. If this universal remote uses UHF frequency, it will not work for the IR frequency. Please let me know your receiver and remote types and I will see if there is anything we can do for this remote.
Not all remote are compatible with all our receivers. Depending on the receiver and remote model numbers, if they are compatible you can readdress the remote to the receiver. I have provided a link for readdressing the remote to the receiver. I hope this helps.
I took the front of the tv off. the IR receiver is beside the lens. I stuck the IR emitter directly on the receiver and reinforced it with hot glue and then fed the cable out through the back off the tv. Not a hard job just lots of screws.
Just got a new Samsung Flat screen today and am new technology challenged. Cannot sleep because the red light is still on on the tv set, read the instructions, and would this red light mean that it is in standby mode? Do I unplug the tv from the wall? I am getting very sleepy.
Sounds to me like the issue is the rx in the unit. It can be fixed with very little work if you can locate the part. Let me take a look and see if I can locate the part number for you. Although I have to say that Kenwwod can keep a tight lip on their parts lists.
Thank you Yonatanh, I have located the part and purchased it from hermanelectronics, I really appreciate your help.
now, I just have to freshen up on my soldering skills. :)
