Battery door latch broken

I just got this camera on Ebay and am SO happy with it...but I accidentally dropped it the other day, and the latch on the battery door apparently broke off. I can still use the camera, as the battery door still slides back into place and holds the batteries in, but it is not secure. Is there a way to purchase a battery door and put it on myself, and is it fairly easy to do?

I see you posted this in 2009. If you need a battery door e-bay may have it. I just looked and there are ones for M425 HP cameras

Is it the battery door? or the small plastic post thats broken. There should be four of them. When you slide the latch there are little metal things that slide into place which secures the door. If one is broken I dont think there is much you can do HP no longer can fix these. If its just the door you may have a chance at fixing it as Steve was saying. Good Luck But check the posts to see if its them..

Unfortunately HP will not sell you a camera battery door. If you can find another camera that is broken with a good battery door you may have a chance.

To repair/transfer the new battery door, you will have to use a small jewerly store screw driver that you can buy at the dollar store and use it to push the door hinge bar to one side of the camera.

Then, pull the door hinge out but be careful not to lose the tiny spring that is installed in between the hinges. ( Make sure that you know and understand how to put it back the same way.) You can then pull the battery door from the camera.

Do the same thing to good camera. Practice on the broken camera first. The second time it should go easier for you. When you install the new battery door, push the hinge bar in all the way to one side of the camera. Hold the door to give you the proper alignment and then use the small screw driver to pry the hindge bar from the one side to make sure that it is equally in each of the black hinge connectors.

This worked for me. I was fortunate enough to find someone who had a broken HP MZ67 digital camera that had a "good" battery door. It took me about 30 minutes to complete the job. I hope this will help you. You can email me if you need more advice. I am a computer tech.

Battery door won't stay closed on Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S90 Digital Camera

The battery door latch is most likely damaged/broken. Try using a piece of duct tape to keep it closed. I've done this on several cameras with battery door latch issues & the doors stayed shut just fine.

You could use a piece of velcro as a strap but I would start looking at ebay or other places for the parts to fix it. Sooner or later someone will sell it.

Battery door doesn't close tight

Usually part of the plastic battery door breaks off so the sliding latch (when you push the battery door in toward the camera after replacing batteries) can't latch. If this is the problem you can buy a new battery door that will come with a new latch that isn't broken.

Sony Cyber-Shot Battery Compartment Door Broken

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :
