Cleaning an ink-jet printer can solve minor problems, maintain print quality, and prolong periods between professional cleanings. Thin white lines across printouts indicate that the ink nozzles need to be cleaned.

  1. p 1 Collect the supplies you need: a soft cloth and cleaning fluid made for plastic. (Water is fine in most cases.)
  2. Step 2 Check the printer manual. If the manufacturer has provided specific instructions, follow them.
  3. Step 3 Turn off the printer.
  4. Step 4 Dampen the cloth with water or cleaning fluid.
  5. Step 5 Wipe the outside of the printer, making sure that no fluid gets inside.
  6. Cleaning Cartridges or Ink Nozzles
  7. Step 1 Use the cleaning buttons on your printer if it has them.
  8. Step 2 Initiate cleaning through the printer software.
  9. Step 3 Open the printer software by double-clicking on a printer icon or opening a document and then selecting Print from the File menu.
  10. Step 4 Click a button labeled Options, Troubleshooting, Clean Print Cartridges, Toolbox, Printer Utilities or something similar. (This varies by manufacturer.)
  11. Step 5 Click a button labeled Head Cleaning, Run Nozzle Check, Clean Print Cartridges or something similar to begin the process.
  12. Step 6 Follow the instructions on your screen.
  13. Step 7 Repeat the cleaning process if the results aren't satisfactory.
  14. Step 8 Go to your printer manufacturer's Web site for detailed instructions on manual cartridge cleaning and interior cleaning.

Problem with printing black and white photos

Probably what happen is that you are printing black and white but you have your printer on color mode, try to set the printer to grayscale or black and white before print. The printer is tring to get the black and white by mixing all three color, that is the most comon way of make black, so, when one of the color is missing you see those red lines.
Also you will solve the problem replacing the color cartridge.

Printer only prints in red. I installed all new cartridges. When I printed a test page all red and redish tints. what can I do?

Hmm...

Go through your settings on your printer and see if there are any options to calibrate or clean printheads. Also, check your print settings.

This is an odd problem. I would also recommend removing and reinstalling the printer to your computer, it could be a corrupt driver. (you can do this from Start Menu > Printers and Faxes)

Red verticle lines

the redish hue usually mean that the camera doesn't have enough light to take a good quality pic. If daytime pictures taken outside still look the same take it back or get a new camera.

White dots/green lines

The problem could be in vertical blanking or video processor circuit. Also redish vertical lines may be from external RF or magnetic interference. Move set to new location away from appliances and speakers
