What makes the picture projection appear in seperated colours ?

Usually it is a convergence chip but that depends on brand and model number---some of the sets do not use them.

Look first in the menu to see if customer adjustment of convergence is there---for example if a RCA 2002-2006 and no convergence adjustment shows it is gone for a reason.

Convergance chip

devices: Any Projection TV with a Convergence Amp board

If I knew which Mitsubishi Projection TV you're looking at, I could help quite a bit more. In general, the "convergence chips" on a typical Convergence Amplifier board are actually two STK's mounted to large heat sinks. "STK" is electrical engineering slang for "Convergence Amplifier Integrated Circuit".

Here's a helpful Solution archived at FixYa:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t4337218-image_bowed_line

You'll see in the photo that the STK on the PC board actually have part numbers on them that begin with "STK".

I have sony tv kp-65wv600. It has problems. color and video is blurry, double vision, letters are curved

You have a convergence failure.

Convergence IC failure is very common. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.

Try This:
When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify.
Go to the users menu on the tv.
Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.

If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section.
If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.

If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.

Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless

Picture is distorted blurry

Model number indicated is prone to convergence problems; red or blue shadows around writing or letters---

The model indicated uses two of the STK-392-570 convergence chips; they are located on a large metal heat sink with fins at the front of the middle board inside the set.

The board has to be removed to replace them.

A pair of the chips can be purchased on EBAY (where I buy mine) for about 15 dollars-----total parts cost to fix set should be under 25 dollars.

I also have repaired hundreds of these sets and have:

Start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in this set; they tell you everything you will need and exactly how to do the repair.

I can if you request post the instructions here for you for FREE.

I will attach a photo or two of typical convergence problems so you know if it is your problem and a photo of a typical convergence chip.

If all this information helps you, rate this solution as very helpful here as I do this for free.

Double Color images and Convergence will not adjustment will not line up

The convergence IC`s board location are IK 04 & IK 05. Looking from the back of the TV they are mounted to a large finned aluminum heat sink on the right side of the chassis. The origional part (stk 392-110) can be substituted with an equivalent but higher powered IC (stk 392-180) , that is 180 watt instead of 110 watt chip. Do not use generic IC`s! Purchase origonal Sanyo chips only for best results. Replacement of the chips alone may not cure your problem if there are dammaged resistors caused by the origonal chips. Check the standing resistors on the opposite side of the heat sinks for proper value. RK42(2.2), RK46(1.5), RK58(3.3), RK52(1.8), RK50(2.2), RK54(1.5). All of these low ohm resistors are rated at 1 watt. If you encounter a bad resistor you must replace with the same exact value. Close is not good enough. This should fix your set. Do not buy a policy you have a good TV. Be sure to use a liberal dose of heat sink compound when insatlling the new chips, and clean off the old crusty stuff.
