tear it down remove it and put it back together, unlike the other guy I have taken the adapter port out and there is no soldering involved your biggest problem, if you find you cannot fix the broken piece, will be finding a replacement. This is the problem im having right now

The NIC (ethernet port) is part of the laptop motherboard. To fix something like that you will have to be good at micro soldering.
I find it strange that there is a tab on the port itself, the locking tab's are usually on the RJ-45's (ethernet) cables themselves like in this picture>>>>
