If you get a very loud noise coming from the machine, and this noise islouder when it spins faster, then it is often because of a problem with the drum bearing.

The drum bearing is bad, probably drum bearing spider had broken.

On a front load the drum bearing is located at the back of the drum.

To replace the part you take apart machine, undo the belt and depending on the model you may need to remove more parts.

You can find parts and diagrams for most models here.

Loud noises during spin cycles

Hello, If the noise is a squealing or grinding sound, you are likely looking at a bad seal and bearing.
If the noise is a knocking sound, it's more likely a suspension or out of balance condition.
Thanks

During the final spin cycle, our front loading whirlpool is making a really loud noise - it sounds like a train is going through the house. It is in the basement on a concrete floor.

If the washer is brand new, look on the back panel and make sure the 4 transportation bolts have been removed. The bolts should be roemoved completely - they are only necessary to protect the washer during transportation.

If the bolts are removed, adjust the front two legs to be 1/4 inch higher than the back two. That 1/4 inch will balance the washer during the spin cycle, perfectly.

Washer won't agitate or spin out.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.

Washer makes clunking noises.......

You didn't give to much detail about the noise, other then clunking. Does it sound like it's metal against metal? Does it sound hollow? When does the noise take place before, during or after the spin cycle.

The easiest thing to do is check to see if the motor is loose, or if you might have too much slop or slake in the belt, if you do then replace and readjust the belt.
