I need to take the handles off on my kenmore side by side refrigerator- It is a Kenmore coldspot model # 1069555953. Can anybody give asssistance on how you remove the coverplates to the door handles, They seem to want to break off when I pry on them

Model number is not valid check plate inside refrigerator. Usually Sears Kenmore start with 3 digit model number like 590.xxxxxxxx, and usually have characters that tell u what characteristics the model has and what color scheme.
There is a cover on the handle. Remove with a screwdriver by gently prying...careful not to break the plastic clips. Once removed, unscrew the main handle & replace.
