It sounds like the memory card (what stores the photos) may be faulty, not inserted correctly or may need cleaning. There should be a memory card slot on the side or underneath the camera. Once you have found the slot push the memory card and it should click out of place. Give the memory card a quick blow and reinsert it, if the error still appears it may be the fact that the memory cards capacity is too large for the camera to handle or is incompatible. If you have another memory card, try that.

Cameras don't lose megapixels but users can change the settings for them. Go into the menu and see if your camera is set for the maximum number of megapixels and the highest picture quality.
This is a general problem, not specific to your camera.
Inside your camera, there's a memory card. In your case an SD card. This card has a slider that can be toggled between two positions. Your card's slider is in the "protected" position, and means you can't write to the card. This position is used when you want to be sure you don't overwrite important files (in your case pictures).
The sliders on these cards sometimes change positions when you jam them into a card reader - which might be what happened here?
Simply take the card out, find the slider, and slide it over to the other position. Insert it into the camera, taking care to not slide it into the protected position again, and you should be all set to take pictures!
not sure if this does it for you, but there are USB battery chargers on Ebay for this camera. I've got the same problem and that's all I've found - so far.
Well, I got around this problem (not a fix though) by (1) taking the SD card to a Klick shop and after being persuaded to buy a personalised Mug, found that they hadn't copied all my required pictures to their CD; then in desparation, I used my son's pc which has a card reader slot already on his tower and as his system contains a DCIM folder, hey presto, up popped all the pictures held on the SD card! Not fixed, but until someone tells me how to solve this problem, I'll just use my son's pc!
