My samsung rear projection tv has a problem with its convergence ic. i think theres two ics , but how do i tell which ic need replacing??

Always replace both once your going to the trouble each IC is usually less than $30.

convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

You will need to replace both convergence Ics and the pico fuses that blow when the Ics fail. You can get the replacement Ics and pico fuses from www.tvreairworld.com they also provide free tech support to help you install them

No you have 2 convergence ICs replace them if you havent and look for burt resistors near ICs 2.7ohms most of the time 2 of them need to be replaced They are Big Black ICs will have part# on them STK392-020s order parts from Mats 1-800-628-1118

Replacing Convergence ICs

As long as you can solder you should be okay, however i would suggest getting your ICs at the following link because they provide free instalation instructions with pictures on how to remove and replace the Convergence ICs. heres the link.

sounds like your convergence IC's have fail and possibly a bad dcm. Some of there models have a small board with the ic's them. It may be cheaper to replace the board. But you can repair it if you have proper equipment

Hi, Yes! the convergance board can stop the unit from coming On. No need to change the board, just change the ICs. This is what it looks like,you will have to remove the board from the unit take note of the wires before removing them, -794a500.jpg

There are 2 convergence IC's in the typical projection TV, and one of yours has burned out. If you have green sagging from the top then the convergence IC that handles Green Vertical (GV) needs to be replaced. The Samsung sets typically use the STK392-040 IC's. If you have no experience replacing convergence IC's then let a qualified tech change it for you.
