From where to download drivers for HP Compaq Presario V2000 laptop.

For anyone that had a no audio device/no sound after reinstalling Windows XP or formatting their hard drive, the answer is NOT downloading the Conexant audio driver from the HP website! In fact no driver needs to be downloaded whatsoever! Simply open up Device Manager >> Look for the yellow ? labeled "Other Devices" >> right click on the item in the list that has the word audio in it >> update driver >> follow through with the automatic update option. I searched through posts for 2 days trying to get my audio back after formatting my hard drive, and became nothing but frustrated with all the directions to download the driver from HP (which was the first thing I did after installing windows and didn't work then!) I hope this helps whomever takes care of their things and still uses the Presario V2000.

What you guys need to do is visit http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/supp...
and instead of writting in "Presario V2000" Into the box you need to lift up your laptop and look at the bottom lable even though it's a "Compaq Presario V2000" theres still different versions of it so read where it has the lable "Service tag" and put in the numbers and letters that way you should be directed to the proper driver download page for your laptop.

I got the same problem, but I solved it! HP made a mistake on the product number, I used their detection tools, the they told me that my presario v2000 is a presario v2610CA, then I used the specefic driver and it worked ( bus, audio, modem)

The drivers down loaded from the HP web site will not work. Everything was working fine until about two weeks ago.Following a major hard drive crash, the restore disks that came with the Notebook, wouldn't load the modem drivers right off the bat.I've down loaded drivers from HP web site.Neither of the two drivers offered would work. Paid out over $15.00 to have a new set of updated restore disks sent. Modem still will not load. Changing the settings in Win XP Pro is not an option either.Does anybody out there have a suggestion? I'd be forever grateful.
