The all-in-one product does not turn on
If the all-in-one product does not turn on at all, try the following actions in order to determine the cause:
Unplug the power supply from the wall outlet.
Unplug the power supply from the back of the printer.
Remove the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
Wait at least 20 seconds, then, plug in the supply back into the wall outlet.
Plug in the power supply back into the printer.
Press the power button to turn the printer on.
For models that have an external power supply module, verify that the power supply module is plugged in correctly. Some power supply modules have a green LED built into the connector end or on the power supply module. This LED will be lit if power is present. If the LED is not lit, replace the power supply module.
Plug the power cord into a different electrical outlet. If the all-in-one product has an ADF with an external cable plugged into the back of the product, use the following procedure:
Turn off the unit.
Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
Unplug the ADF cable from the back of the product.
Plug the ADF cable to the back of the product.
Plug in the power cable to the wall outlet, and turn on the power.
If no change, the problem is not the ADF.
If the problem clears, turn off the all-in-one, unplug the power cable, and reconnect the ADF.
If the error returns, the ADF is defective. Contact HP Customer Care to get the ADF replaced.
Disconnect the computer parallel cable from the back of the all-in-one product and try to turn on the product again. The computer might be grounding out through the parallel port. If this corrects the issue, check the grounding of the computer and outlet.

Just a suggestion, if you had another printer connected before this one - or the default printer is still set as default - when you click, ' Print' you'll need to select your HP 1315 as the printer you want to use to print your document.

Hi Jay, This is mike, actually the problem is that that printer has not completed the aligning process, as a result the printer is printing the test page (Alignment page) every time when you turn it ON. So, I would suggest you to let the printer prints the alignment page and check whether the printer prints the page with all colors and it printed fine, once it is done, disconnect the USB cable behind the printer and then place the alignment page on the scanner glass by facing down the printed page downwards and press the scan button. This start the alignment process and the scanning process will be completed once the ON light is stop blinking. This will complete the alignment process.
Once done try to turn off and turn on the printer and check for the result. This should resolve the issue.
However, if the issue persist, then please revert back to me. Be sure that you use the HP genuine ink cartridges, not refilled nor re-manufacture.
You didn't mention some fairly important items;
- Are you connecting to a new system?
- PC or Mac?
- Which operating system do you have?
If a PC with Windows, go to the Control Panel, open the printers folder, delete your printer if shown, then leave the HP connected and turned on, reboot your system.
Windows should find the printer and may install some basic drivers but these won't use all of the features you may have.
This should give you some functionality so you can at least print.
Next, go to the HP website, follow the path through to the support section and you will be asked for model number and other things.
You will be able to download all the software for the 1315 there and once you have it, I suggest you go through the same procedure from the beginning but this time, when asked for a disk, you will have to give the location of the downloaded package to get all functions back again.
In HP PSC 1315 printer after replacing new Ink Cartridges the printer always prints Alignment test page every time you turn it ON.To resolve this problem you must complete the alignment process.
Steps
1.Turn the printer ON. 2.Once its ON, it will print the Alignment page. Place the page in the scanner bed correctly. 3.Then Press START SCAN button. 4.The power light will start blinking, wait until the power lights turns solid. 5.Now Alignment process is over.Discard the paper from scanner. 6.Turn the printer OFF and then ON, it will not print that page again.
Note:Please follow this steps every time when you replace the Cartridges.

Hey :), I'd be happy to help. To make a copy you must lift the lid and lay down the item you want copied. And then on the side of the printer you will see a line of buttons , to copy the item you want, you have to let the printer know if you want the copy to be in black and white or color .To let the printer know of you want the copy to be in black and white or color, you have to select/press between the black ( black and white ) button in the line of buttons or the color button. Once you press wither of these buttons/options , the printer will automatically start the coping process. thanks! I hope this helps :)
Hi -
I don't have a Mac, so not entirely exact on your solution. But, I do have a suggestion to try -
if you use a scanner, you probably have a photo editing software of some kind (like Photo Shop, Paint Shop Pro, etc etc). Within that program, there is an option to obtain the image from a scanner. You should be able to use that function instead. I know that with my WinXP, I could import from the scanner in Paint Shop Pro MUCH easier than trying to use the actual HP buttons on the 1315.
Please note that the 1315 will also only scan flat items well. If it is 3D, like jewelry or oddly shaped objects, you'll only get fuzzy-edged pictures. The 1315 has no depth perception, no matter what setting combination you use. Not HP's finest moment, for sure. I had this printer for a month or two before I was fed up, and went back to a separate printer and scanner! : /
