I slipped on ice and landed on my V551 phone *winces*. The screen that shows the time's cracked but otherwise everything works except the internet browser. Had it checked and was told there may be liquid damage, but they didn't look inside because it was personal damage.. Did the fall affect the browser?

are you on ice?
its part time 4wd right?
test it on dirt, work now? well that is what part time works on,
it does not work on dry pavement and if you do it wrecks it.
part time works only if one or or more wheel can slip.
off road, on grass, on ice, on snow
never on just water wet pavement or dry pavement. (cant slip)
if you fail to heed this ,it will windup, and BOOM
I see a crack in screen on top right but it should still display (however touch won't work). Look at the ribbon connector which connects display to the phone PCB, it should be firmly secure in its connector. Also try cleaning the PCB with alcohol, if still doesn't work then either you need a new LCD or some chip is blown.
Make sure that you are inserting the charger perfectly strait into the phone so that both metal connector snap into place, at work we have a data base of different phones (not the V551) but we have the V600/V300/V330 and all have known issues for not taking charge as people do not attach the charger correctly. If this isnt the problem next step would be to try another charger, if you have a friend with a Vxxx series phone all chargers are pretty much the same, if you have had the phone for less then 90 days most carriers will warranty you charger and sometimes the manufacturer will warranty it for 1 year. If its a problem with the phone then the carrier and manufacturer offer 1 year warranty. If there is a cingular store in your area you could also try going there to test your battery in another V551 to narrow down exactly were the problem is.
Yes you can access the address book using a data cable, but why don't you just take out the sim card if the numbers are stored on there? Or are they stored on the phone? I have a v551 with the sme problem that i am trying to fix so I have mine in pieces. If I can fix it I will let you know.
It looks like I have the same problem with my phone. I guess connection with the screen got broken in the hinge...Guys in Cingular store said that they can't fix it. I decided to buy a new phone, but now trying to figure out how to get the address book. I just posted my concern, and will hope someone will give me a suggestion. You might pay attention to it.
