I would like to replace the mirror with a monitor for a back up camera...how does the mirror come off leaving the mounting pad still on the windshield?
There are three ways usually...
You'll need to remove a screw securing the base onto the mount (usually on metal bases)
You'll need to lift up a clip on the bottom of the base and then slide the base off the mount (usually on plastic rectangular bases
You'll need to twist the base about 45 - 90 degrees so that it slips off of the mount (usually on bases that are circular)
Testimonial: "Excellent response and timely! I am attempting to find the right "tool" to pry up the internal clip...a flatblade screwdriver doesn't seem to do it."
There should be a very small set screw u will need a very small allen wrench
