I have a Ford 1700 and the first time this happened I assumed it needed the oil changed (DID NOT read the manual). After changing the hydraulic oil for about $50... it ran no better. Read the manual. Bought the hidden oil filter. Bought new oil. Problem solved. The filter on this tractor sits in the bottom of the rear end housing and collect ever piece of junk. Good! But a pain to change the filter.
9 times out of 10 its not the pump. Inspect all fittings and check for leaks. Rem this rule that if oil can get out air can get in. Air is most likely your issue. Cavitation will make it act like a bad pump. Hope this helps
