Brother HL5250DN PRINTER THE DRUM LIGHT KEEPS ON

replace drum or drum unit

Try this..
1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum
2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and...
3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual.
4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.

I can't recall the buttons on Brother laser printers but leaving the cartridge door open and pressing and holding down one of the buttons for about 5 seconds will clear the drum light error.

I've done this to clear the same error on aBrother HL5250DN laser printer.

If this doesn't work please post your printer's model number.

You may have blown dust or paper shard into one of the optical sensors. These sometimes are used to sense paper position and carriage position. Try cleanig again and pay attention to these sensors.

The drum light is triggered by a page counter. To reset it, hold the GO button with the drum door opened until the light goes out (10 seconds). Close the door and it should be reset.

Try to reset the drum! Open front cover and pres the go botton till al lights are on in orange then releace it and close the cover !

make sure the rear part of your paper tray is not pressed too tightly against rear of paper. it will prevent the paper from raising up fully to the feed roller. you can also try cleaning the feed roller if that doesn't do it.

Did you reset after changing the Drum? This is how to do it:

Switch Printer on, after warmup open the front cover. Now press the Blue Go button and keep it pressed. Wait as follows befor releasing the button: Each light (starting with the Toner light) will in turn switch to orange and stay on. When all 4 lights are constantly orange, wait for a few seconds then let go of the button.

That should do it

Normally clearing the drum count the machine has to be on open front cover as if to change the drum press and hold the button in for about 10 second then release and shut the door. This should reset the count if not please get back to me and I'll check the service manual to see if anything in that.
