LCD screen does not show picture,can not take pictures

Show a torch light on the screen for a distance, and if you can see the picture, the backlight is not lighting up. Check for its settings on the remote, if you have that option. Check also the settings of brightness/contrast/sharpness/color. If you still have problems, please call in a qualified service technician.

try to unplug the LCD from Board and plug again, it will solve your problem. if persist that mean you need to buy new LCD, to learn how to open device search on you tube.com

I assume you mean you have sound but no picture.

Shine a flashlight or lamp on the screen at an angle (about 20-30° from the plane of the screen). Do you see the picture (it will be dim and have low contrast) where the light shines? If you do, you have a failed back-light (fluorescent tubes, inverters or high-voltage power to the inverters). If not, there may be a general problem with the panel drivers - hopefully nothing more serious than a loose cable from the main video processor board; or you have a failure in the video processing circuit.

If you mean that you can show the volume control bar graph on the screen but no picture, it's time to try different input source selections to see what is working and what isn't.

That means that there was a problem either with a LCD display or with ribbon cable.

That means that the ribbon cable had probably shorted, now the camera may be furtherly damaged.

The camera must be disassembled to access the LCD and fix the problem.
The repair must be done by an experienced technician, as to access the LCD you need to remove both covers.

I just had this issue with my camera (my 15 year old son solved it for me ;-) ).

The viewfinder was active in "record" mode and the LCD was "active" because you could see a little back light but no image. The "playback" mode would let me review pictures in the LCD though so I know it is capable of showing information.

If you push the display key/button a couple of times you can see the picture move from the viewfinder to the LCD and have just a picture and or a picture and information.

So try setting the camera to "record" mode (lens comes out) and then push the "display button" which is on the back of the camera just to the right of the LCD on the lower right side several times and see if the LCD starts to work.

It could be that somehow the display button was pushed by mistake.

The Digital Rebel XTi doesn't have 'live view' mode, you can't see what you're taking a picture of before you take the picture.

Your lens is Damage. Prevent nextime from sunlight , it damage your lens if not in use.

If you mean you see no picture on the lcd monitor before you take the picture and see it only after you have taken it than this is normal with digital SLRs. But if you mean you see nothing on the lcd monitor after you have taken a picture ( no playback ) then either the shutter is not working , or the CMOS sensor is not working or the camera is not communicating with CF card.
