Soap does not desolve

I am have a problem with my dishwasher where the soap does not desolve. We use a liquid soap and have tried tablets. The main latch door does open during the cycles but when everything is finished and we open the dishwasher either the tablet is laying at the bottom of the dishwasher or the liquid soap is running down the side of the dishwasher. Where do I start troubleshooting this one at?

I have a jen-air dishwasher that seems like everything is working. Its getting water and also draining water, but the soap is not being dissolved. I find it in the bottom of the silverware container. Could it be a pump? If so is there any specific steps that need to be taken when replacing. Ex. replace gaskets.

Check that the spray arms are turning and that the holes in them are not clogged, if you line them up pointing towards the front let the machine fill then as it starts to wash open the door and you should see the arms slowing down, if they are okay then check the water level which should just lap the filter at the bottom

Smeg DI 409CA Dishwasher - Doesn't wash properly, tablet doesn't desolve and cycle lasted all night

Hi,

The first thing is have a look at the instruction manual from HERE

If the dishwasher is not washing properly then please follow these steps:
  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
As you said that the water builds up at the bottom see If it comes out 'foamy' then liquid dish soap is getting introduced into the dishwasher. Liquid dish soap is different than automatic dishwasher detergent. liquid dish soap needs to be COMPLETELY rinsed from anything that has been pre-soaked prior to putting in the dishwasher. after a couple of regular cycles the foam will go away. Nowadays liquid dish soap is also 'concentrated' or 'ultra concentrated' which doesn't help.

If further this does not solve your problem the the only solution is to get it repaired.

Goodluck..

Not rinsing soap still on dishes

try washing the dish washer out with a good drain unblocker the system gets cloated up with grease, then use a dishwasher salt with the washes this will help to remove the suds ets, most dishwashes have a compartment to put either liquid or solid dishwash aid in try a different aid, also if you use tablet form i desolve it first in hot water in a small container
then place that into the dishwaser on the lower shelf, that helps

The dishes come out dirtier after they're "washed"! The soap leaves a filmy residue and I have to re-wash all the dishes. I've tried liquid Cascade, the Finish tablets, and putting Jet Dry rinse aid in...

Take out the botton dish rack and check the drain. Most likely there is a screen that is supposed to catch big debris and keep it from entering the drain. It's probably got a lot of gunck in it. Take the screen out and clean it and check under the screen too!

Tablet falls to the bottom of tub but wont disolve

The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.

Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.

Hope this helps, Ken
