No data internet connection

Connecting to the Internet without a Wi-Fi data plan isn't a difficult process even for a novice at utilizing and joining wireless networks. Whether you are looking to join a public Wi-Fi hotspot network or a neighbor's private Wi-Fi network with their permission, get your computer online and browsing the Internet without the use of your own Wi-Fi data plan, saving money in the process. Note these steps to get you connected in just a few minutes.

Move to an area that offers free public Wi-Fi or to an area where you believe you are close enough to pick up a neighbor's Wi-Fi signal. In the latter case, check with your neighbor beforehand to ensure it is allowed that you utilize their Wi-Fi network. Using a private network without permission is illegal. Boot up your laptop. Allow Windows or the Mac operating system to load up fully on the laptop. Click on the wireless icon on your computer's desktop area. In Windows, you will find this icon on the right side of the bottom toolbar. It appears to be a computer monitor icon with small radio waves reaching out of it. Alternatively, on a Mac laptop click on the Wi-Fi icon on the top right toolbar in the desktop area. This icon will look like a set of radio waves extending upward. Look over the list that appears once you click on the wireless icon. This list will present all the wireless network options that are within the range of your laptop. Avoid any that present with a "lock" icon beside them, because these require passwords. If you are looking to join a password-protected network like one offered by a neighbor, request the password ahead of time. In the event of a public network at a local business, a password will not be required. Click on the network you intend to join. Input the appropriate password at this point, if joining a password-protected network. Also, choose the type of security encryption the private Wi-Fi network is using. Your computer will often have this auto-selected, but you may need to select either "WPA" or "WEP" security manually. Click "Enter" on your keyboard. If you do not have the necessary password or are unsure as to the security encryption type, either contact the network administer or click "Cancel" and join a public Wi-Fi network. Allow several moments for your computer to join the network. You will receive a notification on your Windows or Mac toolbar when it does. Launch your Internet browser of choice and begin utilizing the Internet without having to rely on your own Wi-Fi data plan

Is there an application that provides internet free, without wi-fi ?

Unless the area you are residing has a free wi-fi you can avail the internet facility without paying for the service. However in most wifi centers you need to get a password to log on to the router except in restricted campus. so check this out .

I cant get an internet connection on this phone, do i need to set it up manually?

Hi,

There are two ways you can connect to the internet over your phone. You can purchase a data plan from a company like AT&T which you can use anywhere. The other option would be to use your phone to connect to a wireless access point(WI-FI).

What are the differences? Wi-fi is usually free unless at a cofee shop etc but has a smaller area in which you can access(you have to be within a certain distance of the wireless router). A data plan cost money and is typically slower, however, you can use it at anytime as long as you have a signal on your phone.

You can click here to access the user guide for your phone.

If you have a data plan purchased and are using the SIM card they gave you then whenever you use a application on your phone that requires internet access it will connect.

If you go to page 83 of the manual it will go over the steps you need to take to enable Wi-Fi. In short, first active Wi-Fi
1) In Idle mode, open the application list and select Settings
? Wireless and network ? Wi-Fi settings ? Wi-Fi.
1) Then under Wi-Fi settings click Wi-Fi networks, select the Network you wish to connect to then click Connect.

Reference the user manual as it goes into more details about the features on your phone and how to use them.

Does blackberry 7230 have internet?

Hello.

The BlackBerry 7230 is capable of surfing the Internet with the built in browser of the phone.
The BlackBerry 7230 comes fully equipped with a WAP browser, and additionally an HTML browser for normal web page surfing.. including support for java

However, you need to have a data plan from your provider (T-Mobile, etc) and access the Internet through their network. Does not have Wi-Fi capability, which means that you cannot use a private network, such as home, wi-fi cafe, etc. to access the Internet.

Hope this helps.

WIFI

connect to wifi using my blackberry curve 8520 1. Click icon Manage Connection
2. Check/click on Wi-Fi ON
3. Scroll down and see “Set Up Wi-Fi Network”, click Next
4. And now click Scan For Networks.
On this step BlackBerry will scan all of the Wi-Fi around you. Find the Wi-Fi that you want it and save if needed.
5. If you know the SSID network, you can Manually Add Network. And now click theBlackBerry menu and click Connect.
6. If you ask for password, fill it. Usually in free Wi-Fi hotspot there’s no password needed.
7. The next step is fill the name for the Wi-Fi connection to save on Wi-Fi profie or you can just click to Connect. Click Next to continue..
8. The Menu will be back to Manage Connection. Check the Wi-Fi Options to set the UP address is it using DHCP (on BlackBerry it will said “Automatically obtain IP address and DNS”) or using static IP address. If using DHCP you can browsing to Internet but you must change the setting at the browser on the Main Menu -> Options -> Advance Options -> Browser. Change the default browser configuration with the HotspotBrowser. Good luck to surf on the net!
9. But if it’s need manually fill the IP address. You can go to Wi-Fi Options, Hightlight Wi-Fi profile which you already save previously, click the BlackBerry Menu, Edit, Highlight the text “Automatically obtain IP Address and DNS”, click BlackBerry Menu, Change Option, fill the IP one by one (default is 0.0.0.0). And click Save. And don’t forget to change the browser by follow the step on number 8.
Happy surfing on the internet using Blackberry!! But do not forget turn-off the Wi-Fi to save the battery lifetime.

Permanently remove aim and yahoo off of my blackberry curve 8330

Before I got my BlackBerry Bold I was a BlackBerry Curve user. I had a T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8320. The 8320 has Wi-Fi and supports Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA). The other Curve models were 8300, and 8310. The 8310 has GPS but no Wi-Fi. The 8300 has neither GPS nor Wi-Fi. I chose the 8320 so I could make use of the free calling on UMA.
The original Curve is a great BlackBerry. It fits in your hand well, it is light, the keyboard is great, and the screen is beautiful. When you made the choice on which Curve to buy however, you had to decide whether you wanted Wi-Fi or GPS. Wi-Fi allows for UMA (translation free calling) and super fast Wi-Fi browsing if you associate with a HotSpot. GPS allows for location based services (LBS). Sometimes it became a tough choice because after all, wouldn't we all rather have it all?
Well when RIM sent me the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 to review I was excited. This new Curve doesn't make you have to choose. On top of that, it is a jump forward in technology and features that are very welcomed indeed.
