Hello I have a Miele Deluxe H818 oven With a Ceran Schott cooktop I would like to buy a used or new cooktop The size is 23 1/2'' by 20 3/4 the reason I would like to replace it is the top is marked and 2 burners are no longer working properly. Please help thank-you Howie

There are only two things you can do as induction cooktops for home use are new technology and also very unreliable, although Schott Ceran are the best of them.

Try doing a power reset, shut off the breaker for an hour or so.

Or

Call for service / check the warranty on it.

might be transformer noise? try turning the cooktop circuit off at the electrical main switchboard.

why is my schott ceran induction is showing E-r-E-0 when i'm trying to unlock it from L-L-L-L?

I navigated the SCHOTT website to find a solution and was able to find out how to properly clean my SCHOTT stove top. I would check the Ceran FAQ list to see if your question is answered before anything else.

magnetic gradeI have a SCHOTT Ceran glass ceramic cooktop as well, and soon realized that induction cooktops like this require that your metal cookware be in contact with the surface for them to heat up. Best cookware:

• Cast iron pans
• Any black metal pans
  
• Stainless steel pans, if base is magnetic grade (magnet sticks to bottom)

Hi,

If you have an illuminated red key symbol on the cooktop, press down where the illuminated red key is, for about 5 seconds. This method works on many Schott Ceran / Miele cooktops including the KM443 listed above.

If this doesn't work, please let me know the correct model number.

I want to say that since I posted my original problem with black spots appearing on the Schott Ceran top, I took pictures of the top and attached them to a complaint sent to Maytag. Approximately 3 days later, a Maytag representative phoned and offered a brand new top-basically stating that there is a fault with the tops. They would not pay for the labor to replace the top. My husband downloaded the instructions from Maytag website and installed it himself. These spots actually appear from within the surface and are not the result of a boil over, etc. The spots on my burner grew to the width of the burner. If you search the internet, you will see many others with the same problem with the Schott Ceran tops. I will never buy another!
