It's either a pin that is close to one of the hinges, that gets pushed-down as the lid closes, or it is near the "latch" at the front-centre of the computer.

Hi my sensor to light up screen no longer works on my Asus Eee Pad, only way I can operate it is in dark with flash light. Where can I got to fix it, or can I rest it? Kenny in Queens NY

It may be the tiny switch the switches the backlighting on and off, when you open and close the lid. If it get stuck due to dust, damage, it's located near the hinges of the lid/monitor. That said, it may be the backlight or inverter. Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yi6GNFcP3w

I have a hoover F5914-900 steam vac clean surge how do you us ethe attachment for the hand tool thing?

on the front of the dirty water return tank there should be a removable square plastic piece. Remove the lid and slide that piece out. Replace wth the back end of the hose receptacle. when you return the lid to the top of the return tank, you must roll it on from the front(there are brackets the lid hooks under) to the back and listen or feel or the "click" . Now push the smaller water hose into the receptacle which is located under the hinged door on top of the base. It should be ready to go, now. let me know if this fixesya! Thanks, Rene (the Vacuun Doctor)

I have a Kenmore 900 series washer. It fills with water but them doesn't run. I see no switch on the lid but if I lift and shut the lid sometimes it will start. This is getting worse.

There is a lid switch which is proabably going bad it is located at the rear of the lid lift the lid up all the way look where the lid touchs the tol at the back in the middle you will see a little tab sticking out which when you close the lib the lid presses down on this tab which makes the switch function. You have to take off the top of washing machine to replace switch. Unplug washer before doing this

Washer filled with water then nothing

This is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. If your model number is correct, the lid switch for your washer is located under the right hand side of the washer casing along the wash tub rim. The switch is activated by a small plastic piece on the washer lid (called a "lid strike") through a small hole. The switch contacts close when you shut the lid. In many cases, the lid switch either comes loose, or the lid strike breaks off. In both cases, the washer will exhibit the symptoms you describe. Open and close the washer lid and listen for a distinctive "clicking" sound as the switch is activated. If you cannot hear the switch, make sure the lid strike is intact and the mounting screws for the lid switch (located around the wash tub opening on the casing) are tight. Sometimes, all it takes is to tighten the lid switch screws to realign it with the lid strike. If the switch is defective, or the strike is missing, parts can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number (include the "110" prefix), which can be found on a nameplate under the washer lid. The lid switch will be listed under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item number 11. The lid strike will be listed as item number 20. Other sites that offer competitive pricing are repairclinic.com and appliancepartspros.com. If you require instructions on how to replace the switch, you may use the following link:

If you have questions, or if the diagnosis is incorrect, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Washer fills with water , then shuts off , doesn't move to another cycle

Since you know about the lid and check switches, they are located under the splash (control)panel. unplug the machine and remove the screws holding the panel on. Using a meter check the switches for continuity and replace if they've gone bad.
