I've installed a second HD in my Dell 9150, it's is recognized in the BIOS, but I have a problem accessing the HD. When I go to my computer icon and open it, it is not present.

Hi Dear,

As you have said, that hard drive is recognized at bios level. Then the primary problem seem to be that it might not have been activated.

If you are using windows XP then go start menu===>>> my computer icon===>>> right click on it===>>> go to properties ===>>> go Hardware ===>>> go to device manager. Check there if both the hard drive are shown or not.

If it is present then go start menu===>>> my computer icon===>>> right click on it===>>> click on manage ===>>> disk management===>> > there you can see your newly hard drive installed. Format it once and then activate it here.

hence doing this step you should be able to access your newly installed disk.

For windows Vista. Do the same procedure.

Hope this will fix your problem.

If not please do write to us again, we will be pleased to solve your problem.

Have a nice day.

If it's new, it probably wasn't formatted.

Go to computer management. Start-> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management

Select Disk Management you will see all your connected drives on the lower right pane (including CD-drives). Disk 0 should be online and healthy (this is your C: Drive). Disregard your CD-Drives, and the remaining will be your new drive you just put in. Right-click it and select format. At this point you can choose a drive letter (just leave it default) and select the File System type.
If you are using Linux as 2ndary OS use FAT32, otherwise use NTFS for complete windows computer. Follow any other prompts and you should have a healthy, online drive when you are finished. Hope this helps, Best Regards,

I replaced my HD on Dell inspiron 9300 and it won't recognize the new drive. The new drive was also purchased from Dell and was one that was compatible with the computer. It's saying there's no bootable HD...

It probably has found your new HD, you need watch the screen as you attempt to boot. Failing that enter the bios (usually " hit DEL to enter setup" appears on the screen. Don't change anything but just check to see if the bios has detected a hard drive.

Now .......... the reason why it won't boot is because you have to re-install windows onto the hard drive.

Hi,
the constant Green, states that the motherboard is getting Power.
The red/yellow would possibly suggest, that the ethernet port has a fault or possible corruption.
Solution:- remove the Power Lead from the Computer Case.
Remove side panel. take out any ethernet-Cable from the rear.
Locate the CMOS battery, round silver Battery on The motherboard.
For 10 seconds, this should reset The bios, to it,s original Default Settings. Replace Battery, side Panel. And power Lead.
You could also try This. Boot with Hard-drive power Cable Disconnected ( this will Eliminate HD Fault ) same for CD/DVD drive et,c.

No sound

the sound on 9150 is integrated, and can be turned on or off from the bios, go to bios and check if its off or on, download the latest driver from dell direct for your sound card, install the driver and restart the system, also check the plugs in back of pc that are connected, now try again and check if its ok now.

No you don't have to install a 64 bit OS. Only if you install over 3 gigs you MUST install a 64 bit operating system. 800MHZ is fine it will just back down to 667MHZ. your 32bit windows OS will see up to 3 gigs (minus graphics card memory). SO 2 gigs will work fine. Install one stick at a time and check in the OS and bios to make sure each stick works. I would say you possibly have a dead ram stick.

SETTING UP WIRELESS NETWORK AT HOME

Yes your computer based on your model number should be able to support a wireless router.

Now... you did not specify if this is or is not a second computer that is trying to access the router which is hooked up to another computer and modem. If you are trying to access it you will need a wireless nic adapter installed on the Dell. To access the router. Please comment on what the case may be in your situation.
