Not recognized after OSX Snow Leopard upgrade

  • owlwrite Nov 09, 2009

Have had this external OWC CD/DVD burner (think it's either Panasonic or Pioneer drive) since August 2008, Firewire-cabled to early-2008 3gB iMac with original purchase, always worked seamlessly plug-n-play. Recently upgraded OS to 10.6.1 Snow Leopard. Now the external burner is not recognized by iTunes or Toast 9. All software with latest current updates so as to work correctly with Snow Leopard upgrade. No evident issues with the burner itself, was working great until OS upgrade.

  • owlwrite Nov 09, 2009

Ekse, got a little more info on the CD burner--

    OWC Mercury Removable:

    Manufacturer: Other World Computing

    Model: 0x1

    GUID: 0x1D20500380204

Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec

Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec

    Sub-units:

    OWC Mercury Removable Unit:

    Unit Software Version: 0x10483

    Unit Spec ID: 0x609E

    Firmware Revision: 0x12804

    Sub-units:

    OWC Mercury Removable SBP-LUN:

So the Mac OS 10-6-1 system DOES recognize the darn thing. But it still doesn't appear as a drive choice in either iTunes or Toast 9x. And if I put a commercial audio CD in the OWC drive, nothing happens -- icon does not even appear on desktop.

    Thanks,

Hi, I can not see any communications or posts between you and others so this may be told before...sorry

Usually when you upgrade some applications need to be reinstalled again as in window7 if you scanned the system with the software that they provided it gives you a list of all applications that need to be reinstalled...it is lots of work and that is understandable, same with many softwares, however if you planning to reinstall it make sure that you disable the virus programs or any other that operate on the background...good luck & let me know

I HAVE AN APPLE POWERBOOK G4 I PURCHASE FROM EBAY IT IS CURRENTLY RUNNING MAC OS 9 ,HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO OSX 10 ?

Hi Bobby
You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8

Mac os x updates dont work when i try to go from osx 10.5.8 to osx 10.6.1

If you currently have 10.5.8 on your machine this is the highest update that you can have if you have system 10.5. To upgrade to 10.6.1 you will have to buy 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and upgrade 10.5.8 to 10.6 then you will be able to run system upgrade to 10.6.8.

Have Mac OSX Snow Leopard v 10.5.8 need to upgrade to 10.6

You'll need to purchase the software via Apple Store App. You should be able to do a inplace update or you can do a fresh install as well.

I recently upgraded my operating system (to Mac OSX 10.6) and now my VCI-100 won't show up as a device. Any advice on how to resolve this?

Here is an online manual, Can't download it, though. Hope it helps.

Newly installed Snow Leopard won't recognize Cricket A600 modem. Is this a Mac problem?

Hello,

I take it your upgraded from 10.5 to snow leopard.

There has been issues with Snow Leopard and printers and Devices such as these.

what you can do is go back down to 10.5 make sure all the drivers are installed for the modem and then upgrade again. Say that does not work for you then it would confirm a fact that there is no Snow Leopard compatibility with this modem.

you can also try these steps that are in this video:

The Credit goes to the author of the video but should help as well.

Olympus P-440 doesn't work with Snow Leopard. What

The first thing that you need to do is to verify if your Olympus P-440 is if it's supported by Mac OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). If yes, make sure that you've installed the correct driver for Snow Leopard.

You may check the link below:

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=41942227668e7c7e22782bc2081

This link contains a driver for Mac OSX. I assume that this driver will work with all OSX (starting from Tiger to Snow Leopard). If this driver will not help, you may need to contact the manufacturer, and verify the system requirements of your printer.

Thank you and good luck!

I have imac. and i want to change his operating

Yes it is very easy to do as you are running a Mac with Intel Processor. You have Mac OSx Leopard with updates 1,2, & 3. To upgrade to Mac OSx Snow Leopard you must buy the upgrade. Go here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/ On the top right click (Buy Now) You will have to pay $29 which is a bargain. Once you get the upgrade on CD simply follow the directions for the simple upgrade. I did the same thing when Snow Leopard came out. It is well worth the $29.

Lost the scan ability from my printer.

I have this problem most times that I upgrade OSX. I remove the printer in system preferences, download the latest drivers from HP and then re-install. It's working better than ever now with Snow Leopard.
